Cutting out under boost

Hey guys, need some help here. My setup is a t3/t04e, 38mm wastegate,
RC 550s, my tuner is trying to tune it on crome pro, but every time it starts to boost it starts cutting out and missing. Im still on the stock map sensor but im only going for 10lbs. Please any help would be great.

Sounds like plug gap/temperature to me.

Im running bkr7e NGK’s gapped at .023 tempature is fine im thinking its the map sensor.

When the hose blew off my stock map sensor, I do remember it doing the same thing you’re describing. Mine also threw a check engine light though. What RPM does it start to cut out?

Usually around 4k when boost starts to hit. And also thank you for trying to help me out, ur the only one thats even tried.

its your map sensor. mine would not even let me run 8 psi.

buy a 3 bar and call it a day.

Thats the same thing I was thinking, thanks for the second opinion.

when it cuts like did it not let u rev past 4k? cause thats what mines doing and im trying to find out y

It really depends sometimes, its just whenever it hits boost it starts acting up and I won’t take it any farther. It would probably go past four but not willingly, lol.

If it helps, im running the same plugs you have at the preset gap with no issues. Is it possible too little of a gap could cause the same problems as too much? If you want to try it, maybe gap your plugs at .030 or a lil higher and try that? I think the preset on these plugs is .032. Id say it would have to be between MAP and spark.

Hope this helps

I lowered the boost down to 6psi and it helped a lot. Anything over this it starts to cut out. I’m just going to get a new map, a 3 bar. Does anyone know where to buy a good one? I tried the plug setting and it didn’t really help, but thanks.

So far ive bought all my accessories and tuning gear from him. Good prices and customer service. I got the motorola 2.5 bar from him but I think he has them up to 4.

Thanks for all your help. Hopefully this fixes it. Thanks again.

I doubt it’s your MAP sensor unless it’s fried.

I’ve been running 8.7psi for a looong time on the stock MAP sensor with no problems.

Maybe use a multimeter to test your coil and ICM. Make sure your fuel filter isn’t clogged either. Are you still using the stock fuel pump?

+1 stock map will let you run almost 10, and even after that you can run more but the ecu will not compensate for it, it will read whatever boost column the map stops at. People take that last column and richen it up tuning for max boost they’re going to run and there’s just a little rich spot right before max boost.

are you using a wideband to tune? What are the readings doing right up to boost? and also check the strength of your ignition system as mentioned earlier.
