Da antenna idea!

I notice a lot of people been looking for a replacement for their non-working ant. Maybe you can use the ant. off a BMW Z3 97-02? The one I came across from Metra is part # 44UA30. I came across it at work, on the package it said it have a FM/Am booster on it? I didn’t try it out just passing out the info. Z3 ant. sat on the rear fender like our cars so it might work :hugs:

Just use an s2k antenna…it should fit also.

why dosent every one just shave it off and get this http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.aspx?partid=492666&scid=froogle

Because that requires a bodyshop to weld it, and paint it.

no you can bondo it and paint it your self

^ What?.

To shave the antenna, You need to weld a piece of metal behind it, Bondo over it (iv seen people use fiberglass as a 1st coat then bondo), Sand it smooth…

And paint is a bitch to do because you cant just rattle can it… You have to go through the clear coat, paint wet sand etc… :blah:

i just put a peice of ducktape under the hole bondoed over it and sanded and painted yea i know its haft assed but it works

i did it for my antenna and key hole

ill give it less then a year… the duct tape wont hold it.

You did it the very shitty way, Dont be suggesting it to people when you know it was not done right.

the duckt tape was put there just to hold the bondo from dripping threw

Problem with that is later down the line the bondo will crack from vibration, that or it’ll sink a little and you’ll see the outline of the hole. Sometimes you can get away with it for awhile, sometimes not. If I were to plug the hole and didn’t want to have it welded, one thing I wanted to try (doubt it would work though) is kinda funky.

First, I would cut out a piece if sheet metal about the size of the antenna hole so it fits snug. Then I’d stick it in and JB Weld the whole underside of it so it should hopefully stay somewhat solid. Then would bondo up the outside and smoothen it flat. It’s pretty ghetto, but it may work, wouldnt hurt for like $10 in materials, lol.

Step AWAY from the bondo.

You guys realize that you can go to a Honda dealership and get an antenna plug from a 1990-1993 Honda accord DX???

Simple way to get rid of the antenna…

If anyone wants the powered interior glass style antenna like above, I can get them for $20 shipped.

The plug is a good quick fix, But i personally wouldnt like a black plug hanging out of my rear quarter panel.

Im gonna shave my antenna the proper way.

If you look up the Metra part # 44-UA20 it’s an amplified underdash antenna. You don’t have to stick it in the window. I used it on my car…and use them as replacment antenna’s for the Harley Davidson dealership across the street from me.

and…? They work well or not?

I’ve never had any problems with them in the past.

Good reception?

I plugged the antenna with a rubber stopper from Home Depot. Hven’t had any leaks and it’s been raining pretty bad here lately. I have one of the internal amplified antennas now. It does not have the reception quality of the stock antenna but it isn’t bad. I can still pick up major AM stations with it and FM comes in fine most of the time.
