Gen 1’s are crap, gen 3’s I’m pretty sure are good now, not sure about the 2’s. As long as you’re not tracking them you’ll be fine, if you are tracking them then be VERY careful. I’d check them after each session and wash them and check them after each event. They always crack on the spokes and every time I’ve seen, except one, they have cracked a spoke or two but not fallen apart. And 949 is good about replacing them if they do crack. Once though I did see all the spokes break and the rim go flying off the car.
WOW thats crazy im planning on tracking with these. i have extra rims i can bring along. but i still have few issues with the car before i can even do that.
I’d definitely try to see if you can determine which generation they are so you know how concerned to be. I’m guessing there are slight differences that you could identify. You probably don’t have much to worry about unless you’re really fast and running rcomps, but still, there’s always a risk. Personally, whenever I see failures like this (similar to what we were seeing with the old Konig Heliums and to a certain extent Rota Subzeros) I stay as far away from the wheel as possible. IMO not worth the risk at all. I was going to get the 6UL’s until I saw at least a half dozen failures on friend’s cars. The issues seem to be worked out and I would consider a set of the Gen 3’s but I’d still be a little uneasy about. Instead of the 949’s I opted to go with CE28N’s. They aren’t as wide but they’re super light and super strong (forged).
All of the guys I know who were breaking them are FAST and putting a lot more strain on them than I’m sure I would be (they sometimes run sub 2:00 times at BW CW13).
Here’s a quote from 949 trying to resolve the problem:
For the ABS delete did you just go to a junk yard and pull the lines off of a non ABS car? I kinda want to get rid of mine (never has worked in the 7 years I have owned the car).
[QUOTE=DA_Teggman;2286293]I wanted to use the hardrace trailing arm bushing and the DA RTA bushings have wider diameter 85mm & DC2 80mm. At the time only energy suspension offered an application for DA’s & I wanted to stay with rubber. But this year hardrace(harden rubber) & whiteline(urethane) came out with the RTA bushings so you dont have switch to DC2 RTA
