DFW Monthly meet thread...

Anyone?

^Unfortunatly not on my end, sorry.^

zachATTACK87, I bet your friggen gas mileage went up through the roof. BTW where did you get that sensor from

superchi, good to hear that you’re still on the radar and in big interest on getting back to G2 status (Dump that g3 and come back to the daRkSidE, LOL)! Anyhow, yes we have been building our turnouts and are looking forward to a picnic and cruise in March. We’d like to see ya come through (hopefully that DB2 you mentioned and not the g3).

Anyways folks, I think its that time that we need to prepare for a meet…and sooner than expected. When we last met in early December, we agreed upon a mid to late March '09 meet. With the weather of recent times in much warmer and safer conditions, I would like to schedule an early spring meet. The picnic can hold off for later in the spring at Lake Arlington as planned, but to meet at Taco Cabano off Little Rd would set us straight on who is who of new member intros and plan for the following meet.

I suggest Saturday, March 7th is as early as we can get, but no later date than that.

Actually, man, sad to say it but my G3 got stolen back in October last year out of my driveway. They found it less than a day later in Garland stripped to the bone :frowning: I ended up buying a 99 RL since I really didn’t want to get back into the scene but now time has passed and am kind of opening back up to it. I was looking into a G2 since they seem to stay off thieves’ radars but I dunno, keeping my options open right now.

Dammit! And I was going to get the seats out of that G3!

Good to hear your back, but sucks about the car being stolen. Even if it was a G3.

You need to come to the next meet.

Works for me. Guess that means I probably need to get working on those pics. Work is sucking right now. :squint:

Man Wayne, your a ball of bad luck. Illness after illness, hope you get well soon. The guy that is supposed to be testing 1 rim to powder coat, is bull$#!tin’ on my rim. I gave him 1 rim to see how it turned out first before giving him the other 5, and he is still not done.
I am calling him today on his progress. I’ve waited too long for this powder coat thing to happen and I am growing very impatient. Its not like him, I’ve done business many of times with him and he has always come through on a decent time to have my orders done.

Anybody got a driver’s seat to sell?

Yeah it did. I went CarQuest and they had for about 53 dollars. It was a bitch to install it too.

My car dumped on Monday of this week… Sitting at a light and it quit and restarted several times. The timing slipped and the distributor is making a awful screaming noise. I think with my tax return and whats leftover I’ll rebuild it and buy new plugs and wires. Iridium!

One question. The stock distributor are the insides suppose to be like a cream brown color?

So far, alot of folks are good for March 7, that date will stand. Is everyone allright with 3pm that Saturday? Once more, we would like to get some daylight for some photos. I got a digital camera and I encourage everyone else that is attending to bring one as well.

Nope, but I got some milk crates (LOL)! Seriously, whats going on with your seat?

The reclining mechanism on the driver’s seat is broke… it will only lock at full lay back… I haven’t taken it apart yet… :frowning:

sorry guys that day not good for me. It’s my daughters birthday party that day :frowning:

hopefully im good, ill tell my friend about it but my db1 has the motor in, now i just need mfr and toggle switch for ignition. It won’t be done by then but hopefully running, borrowed a friends today and it ran, also need to warranty my axles. Just put the front tokicos on today just need to get rears.

If your talking about the dust in it, its that shield deteriorating. Mine is doing that too, and was squealing until I shaved some of it off.

My shield pops out, and hits the rotor. Specifically the set screw I have holding my rotor to the shaft. I would take it off, but if your rotor were to ever break while driving, it would tear the wires out of the distributor, and ruin all of it. With the shield, it at least has some protection.

I am pretty sure I still have a obd0 distributor in my parts bin. It was fine 2 years ago when I went to obd1, if you want it, you can have it at the next meet.

Tell me if you want it, I don’t want to move the other parts bins on top of it to look for it if you don’t. It has ~180k miles on it.

If you do end up taking it apart, use a hex/allen head set screw for the rotor. It makes it really easy to get it off after 20k miles when you replace the cap and rotor. I got mine at the ace hardware store across from Taco Cabana where we meet up. I *think" its an M8 1.25 10mm thread length, but I am not positive. If you have your old one, you can drive without it for a few miles without tearing anything up. You could take it in and match its thread pitch and length.

I also have some misc parts, PS with pulley I think, and some wiring harness for the engine bay. Though the wiring harness is what was left on the obd1 engine I have now. I also have he stock spings, stock Autozone lifetime dampers, and the tophats, all off a db1 if those will help. I have decided that I really do not need them anymore.

On a side note, I was thinking of painting the rims on my db1, the crappy ones, just to have something different. I am not going to buy new rims until I wear out these tires, so it will be awhile. Any ideas on color for my white db1?

Here is a picture of the rims:

I was thinking something simple like black. Probably not gloss, but semi or flat.

Yeah that sounds good.

It’ll be coming home on Tues. from the shop. I’ll definitely put some pictures up of whats going on inside of the distributor… Its probably time for a new one anyways.

Oh yeah and if I make it to the next meet. Im bringing something real good. Anyone ever try elk meat before? Ive got some that would be perfect for making a burger out of.

Op209, I’d go white, but I know its hard to keep it clean though. I cant think of any other color for your wheels…

Hey guys I’m in for the 7th. My black da won’t be there but I’m looking at buying another this weekend. I’ll let y’all know. Ain’t INCOME TAX great?
