diy sleeving article
Have any of you ever seen this done before or known someone who has done this?
How reliable does it appear?
homemadeturbo.com, theres a filled block on there going to be tuned by xenocron, shooting for 400whp. I’ll use that as my gauge. A few people have done this, look around.
look at the homemadeturbo home page, they just put up a pic today of a guy bakin his in the oven. just click www.homemadeturbo.com I think hotrex or maybe beau, one of them got like 400whp from a b16 that had been filled, not a bad idea, and its alot cheaper then sleeving, although it doesnt give you the full potential of sleeving it is stronger then a block guard
all u need for 390-400 is block gaurd, pistons, rods, cometic head gasket, and a t3/t04e turbo. filled block = 500+
but remember the more u mod ur block the less drivability u have
wwwooooooooooooooooo
sleeving a block would go for a grand, this is a steal !!
isnt there any downside of doing this ??
because its not sleeving, its a different version of a block guard, its thicker then the normal block guard design, but is in no way the same as sleeving, for the simple fact that sleeves are strengthened through the length of it, not just towards the top, you still have stock sleeve setup below the liquid aluminum
so, the cooling capacity is reduced, but how severely is it affected? would a motor with a filled water jacket still be able to run AC, even in the humid climates such as summer in Houston, TX?
the aluminium seem to go deep (3 inch) not like these 1 cm thick blockguard
imo block filling is NOT a replacement for sleeving. its a good DIy cheap investment but its not better then sleeving or even a block guart.
well actually i take that back its better by a block guard by a hair because you dont risk distoring the cylinder sleeves from pounding it in. its said to have worked and its said to not work so if you wanna do it for a piece of mind go for it. :loser:
