Does anyone have an hid kit on their teg

more pics…

Installed dust boot. Done:

without fogs:

with fogs (I hate those damn nipples):

How it lights up the road (not bad for 35W bulbs eh?):

BTW, it looks much better in person  My el cheapo camera takes poor pics at night, especially when there’s a bright light pointing back at it.

thx for the pix but I really wanna see them in action. Do you have pix of them on your car at night?

EDIT: oops just saw them

Hmm… like I said. Highbeams.

Jumping in on this one…

by the way those are not aimed yet…

Looks nice.

That DOES look nice 4dr and VDo. My only concern is:

  • yes the depth of the light source remains similar but are the D2R filaments not positioned transversely to the H4H bulb. I would think this in itself would cast a different light pattern through our JDM 1-pcs.

I am not doubting that they emit a nice spread pattern and that they do not look like highbeams - I think with enough modification and proper aiming - this can be a very good light mod - for both safety and asthetics.

I don’t think the it makes any noticeable difference. When the lights are on, the light source acts like a single point of light radiating out in all directions. It is up to the masks, reflectors, and lenses to put the light where you want it. The only noticeable difference I can see between the two bulbs is that the H4H bulb has a mask or sheild at the tip of the bulb so that the light shining out of the headlamps are mostly reflected light and hardly any direct light. The D2R bulbs, however, has some direct light that escapes and makes the already bright lights even brighter, but the diffuser on our lenses helps soften the glare. As you can see from the above pic, the light pattern on the road is not perfect, but I consider it more than 2X better than stock and I’m not blinding any birds in trees either.

Yes, the output of the HIDs is brighter than that of the regular highbeams, but because they are aimed lower, I would not consider them blinding to oncoming traffic. I’ve seen stock HIDs on various cars that are more glaring than mines.

BTW, I can easily swap out the HIDs and replace them with the stock H4Hs when I need to (like for the annual inspections that require that you have high beams). I had this done yesterday and hated driving around with my stock H4H bulbs. I immediately put the HIDs back in.

Nice thread. I might just have to look into doing this. Which Philips kit will work easiest with JDM one piece headlights?

Can you still aim the light using those aiming gears in the back of the headlights. Can’t you use those to aim them much lower than usual?
One more question, how much did the whole thing cost you?

Yes, all the lighting adjustments work like normal. And I did aim them lower than normal. It’s like I’m driving with highbeams on except they are aimed lower.

The whole thing cost me nothing. That’s why I was so brave about chopping it up. My car was getting body work done at the Acura body shop here in Austin, and I was just walking around checking out the work when I noticed a pile of scrap in the corner and went to see if there were any Integra parts I could use. On the top of the pile was a smashed up '01 CL front bumper and two cracked headlights. Upon further inspection, I notice the ballasts were still there. I assumed the bulbs were broken. I ask the manager how much I could buy the broken headlights for and he said to just take them. They were going in the dumpster anyway. WhooHoo! I went home, removed the bulbs and wired it up and everything worked! Score!!

Moral: go check out your local Acura bodyshop. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

I think this should deserve a* archivethis *

awesome!
free wow!

they look great man excellent job
thanks for the detail pics and instructions as well

Well I’d love to see more pix if possible. I wanna see a pic where you can see the car too. In the previous ones you can only see the lights. Maybe you can take a pic at the sunset… please

Hey thanks for the pix man.
I’m so tempted but unless I find it for free like you did there is no way I’m putting my money into that.

free? you bastid!

what would be an ‘acura’ bodyshop? im gonna start vistiting the acura dealership everyday. bring some fresh cookies!

acura bodyshop

acura bodyshop is an an acura dealer’s bodyshop. What I did was went inthere and told htem I was an Engineering student (true) who was doing a study on lighting intensity/effects (not true). They gave them to me with no qualms. They also had a 5 gallon trash can full of ballasts, bulbs and whatnot. Bodyshops are shady, replacing parts that dont need to be replaced, just to get the money for doing so…
