True. They are just too lazy to remove the ballasts and bulbs from the damaged headlight housings. They just order all new stuff and then charge insurance for it.
Thanks guys for the compliments. Glad I could help.
So if i were to go around my town to the body shops that fix acuras and whatnot, i could probably get a free set of used HID headlight bulbs and ballasts? I dont think my Acura dealer has a body shop there though. All they do is service on the car. Maybe i will ask them where they usually refer you to for body repairs.
Vdo: What exactly did you say to the guys at the shop after you said you were doing a test on light intensity. Do you have a set of HID bulbs just lying around the shop?
I called a large local body shop just now and the manager told me to call another guy at a shop on the other side of town. He said he was working up there last week and he saw a box with 2 or 3 sets of them inside. He said just call him and ask him for one. He will either let me borrow it or have it. Not to sure. All the guy at the first shop had was the bulb. They are coming from an Audi. What can i say to get 2 sets? I want 2, not one. It would be pointless to have one hid light on my teg.
How can i tell him i want to sets? I told him i was a student from Gonzaga and was doing an experiment on light intensity and affects on the human eye. Now i need to rephrase and tell the other guy i need 2 sets.
interesting. the consensus appears to be that HIDs are pointless and dangerous b/c the JDM 1pc have that faceting inside which disperses the light, but HID lights are not supposed to be faceted. Now, what about going with something like the OBX kit mentioned in this recent post
