My car was sitting for like 6 months and then I took it for a drive (30 miles) I got home and noticed there was a buring smell (like metal to metal) coming from the brakes I lifted it up and found out the brakes were sticking/dragging what could be the problem??
I would check the slider pins. I would take them out and clean and grease them up again. If you are not sure what they are, it’s what the calipers bolt to and they allow the caliper to move. If your calipers are sticking I would start with checking those.

Ok thanks ill try it tomorrow
it could be sticking caliper pins as the person above mentioned or worst case scenario seized calipers

any recommended brake grease brands?
any recommended brands?
I have always used a standard brake grease that I got at the auto parts store. Not sure of the brand.
any brand will do the job just fine; storebrand, valvoline, crc, and etc. As long as it’s greased, you’re good to gooo!
Unfortunately it wasn’t the sliding pins what else could it be??
I think it could be a seized caliper how do you determine if it is and do you just purchase new calipers?
Anybody??
Not sure of the best way to check if its seized. You can swing the caliper off the rotor and pump the brakes and see if the piston moves. I bought some remanufactured calipers from a auto parts store. You could do that and just replace the caliper and be done with it.
Yea I took of the caliper pumped the brakes and it won’t go back
Have you tried to push the piston back into the caliper? That could loosen it up. If it doesn’t move then I would replace it. It could be rusted and need a rebuild but a remanufactured one shouldn’t cost too much and then you won’t need to mess with the seized one.
Yeah tried pushing it but it doesn’t budge and i found front pair for 35 and its quite rusty
Yeah. It looks pretty rusty. I got both fronts for about $65. If mine looked like that I would change them out.
Yeah I’m going to purchase some online for 40$ but thanks, hopefully by next week ill let everybody know and thanks for all the help.
I have had calipers that looked worse than that when I lived in Sweden where they salt the roads in the winter. I ended up taking the piston out and sanding off the rust with fine grit sandpaper and putting new seals in. More work on my end but parts were not as cheap as here.
I have heard that salt causes this but I wonder how it happened to mine since its only been sitting
