is the dumptube suppose to be welded into down pipe someone told me that if I do that I might blow the wastegate plus since its not welded its loud as hell and I can’t hear the turbo spool up ps are the injectors suppose to be makin a tickin sound thanks
holy living shit that’s hard to read. one quick request before i get to answering–please try to use some type of punctuation to separate clauses; it really cleans up your post and makes it a TON easier to read and understand.
is the dumptube suppose to be welded into down pipe
it doesn’t have to be, but many people do it to keep things quieter.
someone told me that if I do that I might blow the wastegate
that someone is a fucking moron and you should avoid any further “advice” from that individual as they clearly do not know what they’re talking about. the exhaust gases are traveling away from the wastegate and turbo. how does looping the dumptube into the downpipe risk blowing it? it doesn’t. the exhaust keeps going. without getting into some drawn out technobabble that probably is above your head (no offense intended by any means, just being straightforward is all) suffice it to say that if you route the dumptube back into the exhaust, you’ll be fine.
plus since its not welded its loud as hell and I can’t hear the turbo spool up
well you don’t have to hear the turbo spool up to know it’s working. if you risk failing a sound or other emissions check in your area, i highly recommend not running an open dumptube, but rather having an exhaust shop route it to the downpipe to quiet things down as well as help out the environment a little more.
ps are the injectors suppose to be makin a tickin sound thanks
disregard my previous answer for this cause mick answered with the RIGHT info.
thanks alot
When checking the injectors with the screw driver the clicking noise lets you know if the valve is opening like it should. If its not making any noise something is up.
see what i mean? that’s what not troubleshooting actively for 3 years will do to ya.
thanks mick!
running ur dump tube into the dp is a great way to keep things quiet. in many setups that i have done i have just made them a long dump tube and run it down and out the bottom of the car. this did greatly reduce the wastegate noise. u may want to try that first. with my setups like that u can hear the turbo spool but there really no need to hear it spool though…
listen with a flathead screw driver as already said above. tapping a stuck injector can free them up if u have a stuck injector. just hope it never get’s stuck closed. it’s not a fix either but it did get our drag car down the track a few more times. it was replaced the following day with another 1000cc though
