hi im in the process of building a 400 hp gsr engine, for my 92 da wanted to know if anyone has used eagle rods for that kind of hp. or if you had any opinion on better ones under $500 have je pistons, arp studs,b16 head, blox turbo manifold a gt35 r turbo coming all the piping,ic , blow off valve, 255 fuel pump ect. just wanna make sure i get the rite rods…a buddy of mine was helping me but recently passed away so im trying to do this build on my own.id appricate all the help i can get thanxs
i have eagle rods with the 3/8 arp studs w/ mahle pistons non sleeved block. 17.2psi daily 1st 2nd 3rd gear usless but i like.
what hp you running? how long have you had ur set up and what turbo size do you have
?
for the eagle rods- you have to shave a bottom portion of the sleeves to make them fit right?
Eagle rods should be good for about 500, but not much more
You only have to shave the block for SOHC’s… I’ve seen ppl take Eagle rods well over 500whp without any problems. But I’d still stop around there. I ran Eagle rods last year wtih my GT30R at 30psi no poblem. This year I’m on the samerods with GT35R
thanxs alot im thinking about the same turbo, just wanted to make sure im not cutting coners on the rods what bearings are you using some tell me stick to stoke others claim to use acl. just dont want to put the same part in twice becuase of going with the cheaper stuff.
If you plan on keeping this motor for a long time. stick with OE. I use ACL’s but I also rebuild every year cause I have nothing else to do over the winter lol
i hear you plan on using it in the summer, rite now im building my garage so that my car doesnt get stolen, have the motor in my bedroom and accessories to it haha, its bad how you cant just leave your sh1t sit without worring about it. but anyways i’ll have the winters to build and the summer to play.
