Im in the process of “restoring” my 90 ls, body work, then motor work. I hoping to have it done to take it with my team to nopi. yes thats right, im on a race team with no car currently registered. I kept trying to get an rsx but realized i would need the money more in the end, then the car. So i decided to save my integra. i should have posted pics of the car now. It has some rust issues, but is going to look badass when its done. Im currently looking for someone to do body work and paint im trying to long term budget this out, and the word budget and ebay go together. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stage-III-Skunk-Sty-Turbo-Kit-INTEGRA-CIVIC-GSR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ8028207782QQrdZ1
$1000 dollar turbo kits off of ebay. not that specific one, but something like it. the only thing i think i would probably upgrade would be intercooler ( i am going to run a 92 front bumper with the intercooler in it, i want a perfect fit). for anyone who has tried it, what are the major issues with ebay kits, i mean piping is piping right? I am going to be running stock motors, i have an extra b18a. Im not trying to be all that fast now, im unsure of what im finally going to run. my b18a isnt going to cut it for long, but i was going to stick it on there so if i blow it, its not like a new b18 or b20 or anything.
You couldnt blow your motor with a weakass kit like that unless you boost 20psi. It will break before then. You miss the thread posted about this shit, say 2 lines below you?
And yes, people have done it, and it works ok, sometimes. Just be prepared to reweld shit, tighten your wastegate, rebuild your turbo. Every 1k.
its ok i guess my friend bought the kits i believe and its doing ok right now except when he went to get something welded when he first got it put on a spark from the weld hit the oil line going to the turbo and… :uhoh:
yeah i bought an ebay kit for 700 bucks. got it from SSautochrome. brande new everything.
t3 turbo .43 ar
20"x8"x4" intercooler
ported intake manifold to match ported head
ported tubular mainfold to match ported head
external wastegate with 14lb. spring. i replaced with 10 lb.
and all hardware to assemble.
deffinetly worth it for me at least. just go get a set or forged internal no matter what you do. and LOW compression is the way to go when boosting.
injectors and fuel management or other things too have fun.
Im using a ssac turbo (t3/t04e) and manifold. I am going on 1100 miles and no problems that I have observed at all. The manifold hasn’t cracked. I havn’t had to rebuild anything. Its been over 1000miles. I know another guy that has been using a ssac for well over 4k miles without having to repair it- yet.
I think most of the trash-talk about these products is from people that have no idea about the products in the first place. Although you do get what you pay for. So far things have worked out for me, but we’ll see. It isn’t a daily driver and I only drive it maybe two days a week.
yeah, well im going to get a first hand look at one of these, kits, my friend got one of those kits, and he is planning to run low boost on his d-series in a newer civic. i think i’ve got hold of a new ls swap that i am going to do for my da, im going to look at it pretty soon. I really do want to go turbo, down the road.
i have since heard these kits are not all that great, but then again it is at low boost, like 6-8psi, so maybe it will be ok. seeing nightmares like that first hand will make you want to put out over 2k for a better turbo setup, its just the price you gotta pay, there are no shortcuts. the biggest lesson i learned with my da, do it right the first time to avoid problems down the road.
I bought on of the SSautochrome wastegates and it worked fine for me?? I recomend there gates. And im pretty sure those manifolds would hold pretty good if you drove it twice a week. but im not sure what kind of hp it can handle. And im not sure if 2.2mm thick, is thick enough??? ive seen some that they say are 2.7mm thick??
I called SSAC and the guys there were really helpful. He could have tried pressure selling me a $800 kit but told me to get my engine up to par before boosting it. Maybe its just North Carolina hospitality!
I have read how “make your own” but the guide is rather crude. I would rather pay for the right stuff and get it down right the first time.
You want it done right the first time and you’re considering using SSautocrap? This board has a wealth of information about turbo charging your car (its specific to the 1990-1993 acura integra , MOST likely the vehicle you own and are working on). There are countless threads on the web about the quality of SS parts and countless threads about piecing together a well built system using name brand components for cheaper than some “kits” for sale outthere. What it comes down to is searching and talking to people both here and on other boards who have turbo’d their cars.
i used the SS manifold and never had a problem! And if i get another integra i would get another one because people are selling them SO cheap based on hype they have read.
I think sometimes people complain about the shit breaking because they are to hard on it… I think they are the people that go out and rev the shit out of the motor everyday and so on…
Kevin- Werd I got one too… all the guys up at MA motorsports inbaltimore swear by there stuff with the exception to their Turbos. Apparently SSAC dropped the original fabricator that they had fabbing there products, (more then likely because of the responses and feedback they were getting back on their stuff cracking and breaking.) However all the guys at MA have been using SSAC products (minus their turbos) since they switched fabricators and have been very successful in all the east coast drift competitions.
Not praising them or their stuff just making an observation off of the results I have seen in others vehicles so far over the last year or so. I know there are better products but for the price and to the beginner building their first turbo set up I say its not bad. IMO
i know 2 ppl runnin ssac manis both of them are cracked. go on hmt and find a real mani, i got mine for 200. custom made, brand new.
TURBOS–they are good for what u pay for. I know about 6 cars running their .57 trim and i will be putting theur 1.18 on a supra. My tuner says that they arent as bad as everyone says. Obvisously they wont be as good as Garrett, but a used turbo from garret will last probably less time than the ssac. DONT BUY IT FROM EBAY!!! Beleive it or not there is fake XS power. There is a knockoff company from China that makes 2 peice Compressor housings that are GLUED together. WTF is that? Buy from SSAC’s site. The guy on there is pretty cool. i tried to get them to sponsor or club (to get a free turbo) but with bad results. I will be getting one once my motor is built, the .57 trim.
Wastegates, i would never think i would say this, they are really good. They are cheap and they work. I will be getting the JUN style 40 or 44mm.
BOV, i have an ebay RFL, and the blow sounds great, but save ur money and buy a real bov. Flange doesnt seal w/o tape, spring is set way to fucking high. I dont know if i got real SSAC (lol)
Piping- cant mess up piping, but SSAC did. As in another thread in here, the hot side piping didnt fit on the DA. Build ur own
IC- I dont like them. My policy is polished = rice. being SSAC it is tiny as fuck. Go buy a JRC 6’ budget style for 155.
oil lines, dont know, i dont know if i want to know. Buy stealthmode’s lines.
Build ur own kit, u learn more that way
BUT DONT SKIMP OUT ON UR TURBO. I STILL SAY SSAC IS SHIT. BUT REAL BRAND STUFF. I RE-DID HALF OF MY TURBO KIT BECAUSE I PULLED A SHITTY THING THE FIRST TIME AROUND.
Most of my parts are ssauto and i havent had any problems. never had a garrett or anything like that. so maybe i dont know what im missing but im very happy with them so far. nothing has failed
I e-mailed them to see If I could drive over and see there stuff in persone but I havnt heard a reply. I live about 15 minutes from them in Raleigh… Ill bring my digital camera and take some shots if they reply.
