ECU Complications

Okay when I bought my car it already had a JDM B16A swapped into it, I think its first generation because on the DOHC on the valve cover is bigger than the VTEC. And I know its JDM because the B16A has no number after it on the engine stamp.

Anyways for some reason the genius of a previous owner decided to use a JDM D15 ECU that is designed to run SOHC VTEC and it has been chipped by Hyper Duck Tuning to run the DOHC VTEC B16A but it also has changed VTEC x-over and fuel maps, which make my car run really rich, and I don’t feel that it is worth it at all.

Based on that link my car is set up for OBD-1, those are what my plugs look like exactly.

So I’m looking at a new stock ECU that will run my engine the way its designed to run. What ECU’s would be my best choice?

any help? i need to know ASAP :S please and thank you

ok well what year is your car? i just got done doing my b16 swap in a 93 integra and i had a 90 with a swap in it also so i can try to help. if you look on the side of your ecu it will have a letter and number like pr4 which is the stock ecu or pr3 or p28 and there are a lot of them let me know what your useing
thanks

My car is a 92 GS, the ECU running my B16A right now is a P08 ECU thats designed to run the D15 engine (SOHC VTEC) but it has a chip in it to allow it to run the DOHC VTEC B16A and it also has changed fuel maps and VTEC x-over.

My engine is a JDM B16A, I want to know what ECU would be my best choice for it to run it stock so that I’m not running rich any more. I have an opportunity to pick up a JDM P30 ECU.

well the p30 would be great. well you are fine with the ecu that you have just have it chipped for a p30 bin real easy then it is the same as a p30 so choice is up to you
thanks

How exactly could I get it binned for a P30 ECU? I live in Southern Ontario, Canada. Not exactly the most import bumpin place around… lol. But I’m assuming you mean a dyno/tuning place could do it for cheaper then $175 because thats the price of the used stock JDM P30 ECU I’m looking at buying off a good guy on here.

let me check i can burn you a chip i have a burner i just need to get some chips i could send it to you and you put it in and it would run like a stock p30 unless you wanted anything changed
thanks
justin

Oh man that would be awesome if we could work that out. I would want it set up to just run a stock JDM B16A nicely, whatever bin file is best to use for that is cool with me.

Any news?

no i have not been able to get any chipps i have the bin file for it though

Hmmm damn. Any idea when you’ll be able to get ahold of a chip to burn it onto? I’ll pay ya whatever, as long as its going to work properly.

check with http://xenocron.com/ he does chipping!

i just was talkin to a friend and he has some blank chips so i will get some from him in the next day or two and can burn you a chip. do you want a usdm or jdm p30 bin? or do you want anything changed where vtec hits rev limit any of that just let me know.
thanks
justin

hey man i talked to the xenocron guy and he said the P08 ECU that I have looks for a 1 wire o2 sensor and if he were going to send me a stock P30 chip or if you were to do it that they would disable the o2 sensor all together. or just disable the heater on the o2 sensor otherwise it would throw a check engine light. no i’m pretty ify about this whole just putting a different chip in there idea.

isn’t it a bad idea to run it like that?

hey nismortrd21, thank you so much for all your help. if i get a chip through you i wouldn’t change anything i’d just want the stock JDM P30 bin on it. cuz my engine is a stock JDM B16A with just cold air intake, catback exhaust, and fuel pressure regulator.

its not a big deal to run with the O2 disabled. I did with my built and turbo’d Z6 hatch. As well as my built B16 hatch and my 94 GSR. it’ll cut down your mileage a little bit, thats about it

I think I’d rather run with it set up to read it as a 1 wire o2 rather then cut it out completely. I understand why tuned cars just cut it out completely that makes perfect sense, but my engine is stock.

hey i have a chip being burned for you with the heater on the o2 taken off. is there anyting else you want on it differant vtec rpm? rev limit changed? pre stage rev limiter? take out the speed govener? let me know.
thanks
justin

Thank you SO much nismortrd21, I greatly appreciate it!

ummm VTEC rpm should be fine at stock, could you take off the rev limit completely? what is a pre stage rev limiter? and if you could remove the speed govener completely as well that would be great. thanks again!

EDIT:

actually on second thought what is the stock VTEC x-over set at? 5400? I might want it a little bit earlier, I got used to having it at 4800 with the chip i have now lol.

the pre stage is like you can put the gas to the floor and it will only rev to a point you pick and and as soon as you drop the clutch it will rev out great for racing
