I just go done with my rebuild on a B16 in my 92 teg. It now the car will not start or if it starts it runs rough. And when I put load on it i.e. starting out in first gear, the car shuts off and is hard to start or will not start at all. It is also throwing a code but I can not pull it by jumping the wire. The car is turboed with a t3/t4 and has 9:1 pistons and eagle h beam rods. I noticed that the timing belt is loose. I thought maybe the belt was slipping. While it is idling the car will skip every once and a while then it will be fine and sometimes it will just shut off. When I do restart it…it idles at 400 or less rpms and will not rev. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
first fix the timimg belt issue or else you will be sorry. second check if you are getting enough spark. did u change the rotor on the §§§§§? 2nd make sure u have ground from tranny to chassis and from the motor as well, and check your connections for your starter if they are not lose or anything.
Make sure your Map sensor is connected correctly. Is the ECU Chipped? Mine was putting on the CEL, but would not show a code if I tried running a bad program.
I think that the engine has jumped timing because the belt is very loose and slaps the cover. Also how long should it take for the rings to set because it still is burning oil out the exhaust. When it was running and I revved it up it would smoke. Thanks for the replies!
sounds like the timing is off. my car blew alot of smoke out when it was off time when my belt was loose too. turn the crank to tdc, then check to see if the cam gears are lined up lined to each other. looking at the cam gears look at the teeth from left to right with the up arrow pointing up. see the teeth with a little mark in them, its like a little cut in the teeth. line those up side by side. like this -> <-. turn the crank couterclockwise 3 teeth. tighten the tensioner up.
yeah I have ordered a new timing belt and it will be here tomorrow. How do I get the alternator pulley off of the crank. I can not find a chain wrench and I tried an impact at low rpms but it was moving the crank. Anyone have any ideas on this. Thanks again.
also I was wondering about my injectors. The guy that I bought it from said that they were 440cc injectors. They look newer than the rest of the car. I was wondering if the color of the plastic might be a give it away. The injectors are light blue on the main body. I am wondering because I can get some dsm 450cc from a blown 1991 GSX that is being sold for parts and just do the resistor inline with it. Any thing will help thanks
