enron updates... I know I know

its about time I know. Ive been busy working on it. I just cleaned and pressure washed the engine bay. I scrubed the grease and dirt off and some paint came too. so now its time for some welding work, primer and then new paint:D

i took the ac unit under the dash out. im getting (new to me) black cloth interior from a donor gsr in canada. big thanks goes to max for checking out and getting it, then giving it to ive to get to my sisters house in washington. ill be getting it the first week of august:)

i also have started building the motor. b17a all motor is what ill be running. big thanks to dennis for the hookup on all the oem parts.

im looking for itr/ctr cams and some oem or aftermarket mounts. I have the front tranny mount. just need the other 3:)

ok enough rambling onto the pics!!!

dont feel bad, its taken me since january just to swap my blown LS.

great things take time to accomplish. doing it right is the only way to do it, and doing it right means taking your time.
looks good, i wish i had the ambition to clean shit up, i dont care enough to.

Glad to see you’re making some progress, I can’t wait to see how it all works out. And I’m still UBER jealous of your CDM carpet!

Here are those P73 vs P61 manifold pics I told you about. And I highly recommend you go with aftermarket mounts opposed to OEM. The mounts that came w/ my new chassis were relatively new (within the past 5yrs I think) so I figured I’d just use those and not bother buying some fancy billet ones. Wrong decision on my part - I wasn’t very impressed to see how much the engine moved while it was on the dyno. Speaking of which, you’re planning on getting that thing tuned professionally, right?

weasel- thanks bro its been a year in the making and im finally getting this thing rolling,

colin- yes I will be having it professionally tuned and dyno’d. yea id like hasport mounts but im hoping to find em off someone who perhaps bought em but didnt use em. So i can save some cash.

thanks for the info colin:) you have been a great help!

Good luck finding the HASports… I’ve had my eyes open and haven’t found anything but Innovative mounts for sale second hand. I think most of the mounts out there are good enough quality but I can’t bring myself to spend money on anything but the HASport. It’s not at the top of my list of stuff to do/buy but I’ll need to get there eventually.

Hit me up anytime if you have any questions, I like helping out if I can.

Car is coming along nice Ryan and looking forward to checking out the continued progress. Depending on how long you stay up in WA, perhaps I may swing down and see you when you come up. It has only been like… 6 years or so since we last saw each other face to face? If not, then next perhaps the next time we go to Cali.

Keep up the great work!

werd ive if and when i get up there. ill hit you up:) you helped a lot! yea its been a good long while.

great work ryan. time for the body and paint work!!! what color are you going with???:hyper:

i love worthy build threads…

nice ryan, i see you’re already beating me to engine build. my b17 and all my parts just sit in the corner of the garage and the side of the garage, oh hell all over the garage!

DAve, nice mag write up. i showed it to my boss when i got the issue last month and he too was impressed with your car!! but you need to explain to me on the hot pink pieces?!

thanks Dave for the complements. Yuri is right. Congrats on getting your car in a mag:). I’ve always loved your ride. beautiful as always. Funny you mention paint. i will be revealing the color of choice in a few weeks when hopefully I’ll show the engine bay off all done up, ready for a new fresh b17a to be dropped in:D i figure ill let a lil suspense build up.

yuri- actually all ive done is mated the block and the head. i have a lot of building to do. But thats one of my favorite parts, so things are starting to get done. yuri perhaps dave is a “real man wears pink kinda guy” :giggle:

looking good Ryan, you keeping that abs or ditching it?

all of the abs and ps are going bye bye: Lines, sensors, comp, the whole works. plus the ac was taken out several years ago when I owned it. so this engine bay will look super clean.

hopefully the bodywork inside the engine bay will start this week:D more pics to come!

get her done asap!

thanks for the motivation stanley!!! :giggle:

this pic is for you

any plans on getting a traction bar? I totally recommend it over hacking up your oem crossmember… makes header swaps sooooo much easier, cleans up the look of the bay and don’t forget the added performance!!

great job on the progress… take your time and don’t rush things!! I wish i had a daily driver while doing my build… would’ve done things sooo much differently instead of rushing through the build.

I’ve actually been having some conversations about crossmembers recently - haven’t come to any solid conclusions, but a modified stock setup is still a great option. You can notch and weld the stock one to fit pretty much any header, modified accord radius rods if you want some caster adjustment, and OPM spherical bearings if you want to get rid of the rubber bushings. The stock unit is lighter than my Full Race and has a lot better ground clearance. And I’m skeptical as to if the Full Race is actually stronger (from a road race perspective).

thanks david on the compliments. ive got plenty more work to do but its starting to roll allong. the crossmember was notched by me many years ago when I owned it the first time.

all i did was take it out clean it up and respray it. Ive covered a lot of areas on this rebuild but the stock crossmember will do fine for my itr header. I had a ctr header on my previous build in 2002.

With those modifications, i’m sure the stock crossmember would hold up just fine.

I guess it just depends on which header you have… when i had my AN-R header, I had to notch the cross member and modify the front torque mount. It significantly weakened the mount and the cross member. My engine moved so much that the header cracked (i even had 2 flex pipes on my exhaust). AND my cross member was bent in the middle from jacking the car up. Taking the header off was a pain in the ass too, but i go pretty pro at it.
