I am starting to collect parts for my Boost Project, I have the Kaminari Full front bumper, not the add-on on my car. So the question is, has anyone put a intercooler behind one yet? Any advice on sizing and trimming?
Also, didn’t see it in the search, but how do you guys bypass the steering cooler that is in front of the radiator?
One of my buddies suggested switch to a EG Radiator too to free up some space for the turbo and such, is this a good idea, it’s washington so it’s a pretty cool place.
The trimming of the front bumper will depend on the size of the intercooler. about the steering cooler, unless your going to be doing some Auto-X or something to that affect, you don’t need it. remove it and run a loop from the return to the feed on pass side. A half size radiator will still do the treick of cooling, you just need to make sure that you get a good fan, that will support it. I would not recommend staying with the stock fans with a smaller radiator.
I was thinking a Koyo Aluminum Rad w/Slim Fan to replace the stock Rad, should do the trick. I know I can just grab a intercooler and start cutting, I was hoping to find something small enough to fit behind it with the cooler removed and not have to trim at all, but it’s not looking promising, I’ll find out when I start taking it all apart again.
Also, any idea if I’ll have to weld on new tabs to put the EG style rad under the hood, or are there 2 mounts on the stock DA rad that it will sit on?
The only car that comes to mind that had a Kaminari bumper and a turbo was Ron Bergenholtz’ Integra. I don’t have any pictures of it on my HDD anymore, I think my old magazines are all packed up in the garage.
