Finally Boosted my Teg

well i finally got it together… i still have a few odds and ends to do. but it does drive, i just am careful not to boost much… i’ve got a decent baseline tune, and i have my wbo2 to watch and careful to let off if i see it get lean.

i’ve gotta install my walbro 255 fuel pump, and once thats done i’ll install the 560cc injectors i have. then the tuning begins

have fun

thanks!

today after work i drop the fuel tanks… not my idea of fun. but its gotta be done…
i’ve gotta tune my race hatch on sunday, but if i have time when thats done i’ll install the 560cc injectors and resistors.

Jeeze…560cc injectors…That is pretty big. Is your mototr built up? How many miles if not? Your set up looks nice. Still using the stock radiator, nice fan. How do you have the fan hooked up?

I have 450cc Injectors that work fine for my 7lbs a day driving. I will eventually turn the boost up to like 10-12 lbs for some more fun when I get my clutch changed.

What kind of intercooler is that and where’d you get it? What size turbo? Looks good bro!

nice man, im boosting my teg , looking forward to it.

Looks good.

Nice work. I like how you relocated the overflow tank. Any problems clearing the washer fluid tank?

Thanks for the replies

i think i’ll just give a rundown of everything i’ve got here:

Stock LS motor, supposidly has new rings in it… kinda hard to tell cuz the valve stem seals are Leaking (i knew this before i put the turbo on)

I’ve got a “stage3” clutch… its a 6 puck sprung disk and a heavy duty Pressure plate.

i built the Turbo manifold, bought individual parts and cut and fitted everything together and welded it.

i originally built the turbo manifold for a different turbo so i could use a full wide radiator… but changed my mind after finding out the turbo was too small for my teg… well i had to change the manifold and then i did some checking and i didnt have room for the turbo with the stock full wide radiator. SOO i picked up a dual row halfwide civic radiator and installed it, i happened to have the FAL radiator fan for my race car but had never used it on my Hatch so i figured it would work great and give me the needed room for the DP.

the turbo is total hybrid: T3 .48 turbine housing, T3 .60 compressor housing, T04B M-Trim Compressor wheel machined to fit in the T3 compressour housing. spools really fast. the guy who built it claims the turbo can flow enuf to support 300 whp at 14 psi (we’ll see !!)

i made the down pipe, then bought a 2.5" mandrel bends kit and took them to my local muffler shop and have them use my mandrel bends to build my exhaust system… its got a 18" glass pack and a DynoMax SuperTurbo muffler and i love the sounds a very smooth deep sound that isnt loud… i can actually hear my gear box click as i shift… something i couldnt do with my old Greddy SP exhaust.

i traded for that intercooler, its a custom built unit… not sure what it was originally. its 25" long, 10 inches high and 3" thick, 2.5" in/out.
i installed the intercooler first and then worked my piping.

i bought an universal intercooler piping kit off ebay and then started running my piping from the intercooler to my generic cold air intake. i was planning to run a U on the driverside but after finding that the chasis was doubled walled and i didnt wanna holesaw a hole in to the chasis, i decided to run up thru the hole that was access for the a/c water separator canister. the windshield washer fuid tank was made to fit around that a/c canister so it left me enough room to run my piping.

I’m running a personalized version of TurboEdit for obd1 ecus. it also supports the Moates Ostrich (rom emulator) and has a great datalogger.
i also have a PLX Devices M300 wide band o2 controller to help tune.

hope this answers everyone’s questions…
my goal is to eventually boost at 14 psi, i have an extra LS block in the garage i’m going to build for boost. which will happen soon i’m just waiting on parts and the sale of my race car will bring in some $$$$ for any extra things i need. (i just have to tune the race hatch and its sold… so sunday is the day  )

I dont see a bov??

Look down in the hole where i re-located my radiator overflow tank.

i didnt see it at first either, but then i got curious as to where that vacuum line went, found a pic of that area and spotted it. looks pretty nice. intercooler looks a little big, but nice anyway. the intercooler i’m going with is 27(L)x6(H)x3(W) with 2.5 inlet and outlet. fits inside the bumper a little better.

yeah this FMIC is pretty big… but since it was traded to me and i only had like $30 into the rods/pistons i traded to the guy, its definately worth it.

well we got a huge thunder/lightning storm last afternoon and rain turned on like a waterfall LOL… hopefully sunday it wont rain. i can get some more done

how do you mount your front bumper since the braket is cut off??

i only cut out the center of the bumper out… both ends are still bolted on so the bumper is bolted under the headlights and at the bracket on the fender.

installing ur 255 walboro does ur kit need u 2 splice the wires from ur new pump to the old pumps wires? mine did and i wish i used I connectors instead im gonna redo it if i can find another walboro pump wire harness

yeah here’s a pic
i didnt splice the ground wire, i just put a ring connector on the ground so no splicing there… and did use the included butt connector on the hot wire.

u droped ur tank for the install?

yes you have to drop the tank to install new pump!!there’s no other way…

cant u do it inside under the rear seatS?
