the XSi is not a downgrade at all compared to a old and tire LS motor. I don’t know why people hate on the b16 in a DA so much when it was MADE like this in japan. They had no problems running the b16a in their DA’s there so why not here. Anyways, good job on your car.

89-90 XSi B16A engines have 160hp. The 91-92 XSi B16A engine is identical to the SiR II B16A with 170hp that you spoke of (aside from the cable transmission case).

Either one is an upgrade over the B18A1, especially if you have a 90-91 Integra with 130hp.

Great work, and good choice of engine. The B18C has more torque then a B16A, whether it be SIRII or not. I think that just for that reason alone, the B18C is the better bang for the buck in our heavier cars. I don’t wanna bag on the B16A because for what it is, a 1.6 high revving screamer, it’s a remarkable engine. But I feel that it’s better suited for a lighter weight car like a civic.

Looks better than before!! Did that motor come with that skunk2 intake manifold? If so then that company really is about there customers.

With that skunk 2 manifold that B18c is beging for some cams. When I put my in back in December I put in 2000 ITR cams but I could not find the manifold any where. After I put ont he skunk 2 OMG the motor was a new beast.

COMMON GUYS i dont mean to bag on the b16… any real car enthusiast can appreciate the technology in the b16… its pretty damn amazing for a 1.6 but as stated above… our cars are too heavy… yes i know it came in our cars in japan… but its not good enough! lol for the money you pay for a b16… long block about 1000 dollars… (for a quality engine because you get what you pay for) you might as well upgrade the ls! 1000 bucks for an extra 20 horses from a 92-93 da is simply not worth it. tell me what you guys think! i like this b16 discussion! lol :slight_smile: :read: im always open to leaning new useless facts about our cars :rockon:

and no … the engine was BONE STOCK… i bought the skunk two manifold and throttle body… the header… and new exedy stage one clutch. and uses my old AEM cold air and fidanza flywheel :slight_smile: and i would love to have gotten the B18 C- R engine! :slight_smile: but it was 2400 plus tax!!! long block only! the B18C was 1700 flat. hey what do you guys think about the VALVE cover?.. i get mixed opinions about it… some say keep the black… and others say get a RED type-R. i got the blue to be diffrent… it took some time but the blue grew on me :slight_smile: looks sick with the red nology HOT wires

Okay…agreed. But I didn’t mean to sound like a gay V-TAK!!!11!! Ricer. I guess what I meant was, it’s just a different experience compared to a non v-tec engine, such as the b18s. It’s funner, pulls differently, revs high, and has a broader power band. Sorry for sounding like a douche up there with the “welcome to v-tec” comment.

Oh I definitely understand why you went with the less expensive b18c, as opposed to the R. Either way, it’s a great choice. I was just dreaming out loud for you and exclaiming that if you beat those ITR’s with the motor you have now, how much quicker it could of been out of the box with the B18CR. Also, like I stated above, I do agree with what you said about why you didn’t go with the b16.

The only thing douchey about your comment was your use of the term “v-tec.”

The variable valve timing system you’re referring to is VTEC. Capital V, capital T, capital E, capital C, no hyphen.

lol yeah guys it is VTEC… not V-TEC :)… but tis ok though… because when my friend got his CRX back in 2002 i thought it was "V-TECH " lol i thought it was a turbo system… well atleast thats what he told me lol if he would of explained it was a technology that changes the cam profile i would of been even more confused lol

and yes MATTY G2 i do have an alarm system on it! :slight_smile: good looking out for the tip! a lot of people think its a no brainer… but its not! so many people i know that have WAY BETTER stuff than me dont even have a 90 dollar alarm sysmtem! lol i have my NRG QUICK RELEASE SYSEM… BRAKE AND CLUTCH LOCK… VIPER TWO WAY PAGER… and a baseball bat lol INSTALLED BY DESMIAN… ON HONDA TECH… CHECK THIS GUY OUT! the theives will freak out when they realize they cant find the alarm under your steering colum and they cant find the alarm siren! lol and when they try to disconnect your batter only to realize you’re alarm is still fully working! hahahah :slight_smile: by then you’re alarm pager will start beeping to let you know some AS$ HOLE is “TRYING” to steal your beloved DA :rockon:

my first run i got a 9.903 in the 1/8th mile… i got a crappy launch… lol i launched at 3500 the second time i got a better launch and i got a 9.732 which was a little better… launched at about 4000 and the last one for the night… i lowered the PSI on the azenis to 17psi (from 35 psi) it is a race track so it was VERY sticky and i was not getting wheel spin or wheel hop… so i figured i can launch a little higher for my last run… i launched at 5200 i kinda played feathered the clutch on take off i did not drop it and i managed to get a 9.512. :slight_smile: i know i can get a better time… what do yougys think?.. what are yoour guys opinion on it? … what do you guys get on the 1/8th mile? any launching tips?

Forget drag, come do an autocross or track event.

forget draG? lol why is that? what do you have in youre DA anyway? but i guess drag does get a little boring… anyone can go fast on the straight… just get an automatic SRT8 JEEP OR CHARGER and just step on the gas lol but you cannot buy skill… i have not gone auto crossing yet but i do go up to the canyons… im not saying im the best… but i know my DA pretty damn good and i can drive it to its limit… i made this modified 350z look stupid at little tujunga the other night :)… tried tailgating me up the mountain,… i could tell it was his first time their… by the time i gave up, i could not even see him in my rear view mirror :rockon:
