Hey, I just got a few questions for those of you that have cf hoods. My Seibon hood came in today and there are a few things missing on it that came attached on the stock OEM hood.
I was wondering if any of you guys put the 2 rubber seal back on your cf hood (the ones that run along the width of the hood near the latch). If not, does water or dirt get into the engine bay more than before? Also, how did you re-attach the washer nozzles?
I didnt put the rubber seals back on, and no water got into the engine bay. The hood sits too close to the headlights for water jus to splash in there. Although you might have a bigger gap between the fender and ure hood. So when you wash ure car, ure intake pipe might get a lil wet. No biggy. It will be perfeclty fine. But if you do want to put it back on, you can do that too. But there is no harm in leaving it off. As far as the washer nozzles. You have to the take the clips that hold the plastic hose and put them on ure CF hood. And as far as the nozzles itself…Your gonna have to prolly drill a hole in it to attach it back on. I myself just left it off. I felt it looked better w/o them.
P.S.
The nozzle and rubber seals dont come on the c/f stock…although a latch should. =)
I bought an Aerotrends hood and after dealing with their half-assed shipping company, I can honestly say that it is the nicest fit hood I’ve ever seen. However, even that didn’t come with the provisions for the seals (not that it matters, the way it fits). I just used double-sided tape to reattach my washer hose mounting tabs. I love the washers on 2g integras!
I’m going to do a search now… but I was wondering which is the best fitting C/F hood. I noticed that you mentioned that your Aerotrend’s hood fits nicely from the others you’ve seen. I’ve seen over 20 C/F hoods for the DA’s in person… and was not impressed with the fitments.
My Aerotrends is “VIS spec”, whatever that ammounts to. I’m guessing that the VIS hoods should fit nicely. Something else to ask about is the edging: are the edges cut (like on a FI), or do they roll the edges so you get a nice, smooth look.
I too have the Seibon hood on my DA. Fits great and came with the latch. I left all the other stuff off and do not have any problems. Only complaint is that I wish the hood would have been a little lighter.
I did a quick search and found a few threads regarding Carbonfiber hoods… but no pictures of their fitments.
I’ve seen so many pics of C/F hoods that fit almost like stock. I guess that in the pictures, you can’t really tell how well the fit is. I’m going to see about getting my lip kit installed today… after I get my car back… I’ll invest some time in to researching a carbon fiber hood.
I got the vacuum-sealed OEM CF hood from Seibon, and it actually fits better than my stock hood. For some reason my stock hood was always a bit raised on the driver’s side up near the headlight.
I’m not really worried about the weight, it’s lighter than stock for sure and I needed to replace my hood anyway. The car survived a hail storm a few years ago, but the hood was visibly bruised (about 40+ hail spots) plus the clearcoat was starting to get messed up due to 15 years of sitting outside.
I have a VIS OEM hood and it didnt fit as well as a my prelude VIS hood did. But other people with VIS hoods on G2’s fit fine. I think i just didnt line the bolts up too well.
Where do you guys get your hoods? My stock hood right now is all primered, really stands out on the car so I need a new one. It seems like I’ll have to spend about $500 for shipping and all, anyone know something cheaper?

I was wondering the same thing… 500 bucks is kinda steep and most of the hood’s fit like shit. My boy Ralfy… bought one of those 99 $ hoods from eBay… too like 6 weeks to arrive and the fitment is horrible. It does not line up at all, there is a 1/8 gap on each side and the fitment by the headlighs is about a 1/4 inch off. 99 bucks for the hood… 190 bucks shipping…what kind of wack ass deal is that? I’m afraid of spending 400 bucks on hood… and the fitment is off, this is why I’ve not yet invested in a Carbonfiber hood. Maybe I’ll post a WTB…for one locally.
I saw some VIS ones on eBay the other day. I emailed a guy who had bought one and he said it is genuine VIS and fit great, only like 285 or something like that, then about 190 shipping so 475 total. Still seems steep, especially for eBay.
Does it really cost that much to ship the hood? I know it’s big and all … but… shesh!! 190 bucks? The lip and side skirts that Mike from revauto shipped to me… came in a big ass box… which a hood can fit in… and it did not cost no… 190 $ to ship.
Its not shipped by the UPS or the fed ex guy. ITs by freight shipping which is a huge ordeal. THats why it costs do much. If it was by weight then it would be cheap.
i have a VIS oem carbon fiber hood. it fits almost PERFECTLY. it is bloody gorgeous i tell you. i didn’t remount the sprayer nozzles infact i took the line out altogether except for the rear one which will be gone soon though when i get my bodywork done. i paid like $470 shipped for my hood from VIS.
and also, as someone else posted, absolutely nothing gets into my engine bay without the rubber seal up front.
if it doesnt fit “just right” your screwed with it…
pay an extra $100 or so from a well known business to get it, because if it doesnt fit “just right” you do have the option of sending it back for another one… usually…
or luck out and find out a buddy is parting his car out & you’re right there next to him when he’s talking about the CF hood he’ll sell or trade out plus cash…
