Found a DB2! Can I restore this thing?

I was going to drop about 2K on a DA9 project. I do not have the car yet, but I was going to get a cheap one and slowly build. Maybe put a B16 in there, but some kind of engine work. Anyway, my uncle called me and told me he found a GS-R in his yard. Of course, I did not believe him, but it actually is a GS-R in pretty bad condition. I took some pictures of it, do you guys think it would be worth it to try to restore this thing or should I get a running DA9? Of course, this GSR would be free, so it might cut costs a little if I could get it back on the road for $3K or under…

Hell yeah i got those door panels n looks like they swapped the seats i got those 2 also have gsr doors and bumpers lmk 8602024982

your uncle owns a yard or something? lucky find!

If the body is straight and there isn’t too much rust I would say rebuild that one. You pretty much have everything there that you need. If it’s in bad shape then just use it for parts.

Yea, he owns a yard. I am not sure how he gets cars, maybe the auctions. He said this one belonged to a friend of his, but the car was stolen and he couldn’t do anything with it. Doesn’t sound like a GS-R owner, but whatever. It just looks like a few harnesses were cut. I might have to replace both doors. I’m concerned about the gauge cluster and the engine. Just don’t want this thing to become a money pit because I am constantly finding problems trying to piece it back together.

Wat harnesses were cut i have the door harnesses i have a bunch of parts txt me 8602024982

I’ll take it! Seriously. In CA people are always parting out G2s. Any diehard G2 enthusiast would jump on it.

It looks decent from those pictures. Just dont over pay for it.

Yea, I guess there really isnt any reason not to do this. I’ll start by cleaning it out and working on the interior. I tried to post a pic of the cut harness on the door. I think it went to the power windows, locks, etc. I’ll get it figured out though. Thanks for the offer lsjdmteg, once I have a better idea of what I need to get this project moving I will be contact you for sure. I’ll keep an eye out on CL and start working on this thing.

I wont overpay for it, I am going to get it from my uncle for free. I just need to apply to get a title, probably salvaged…

Aztec green too. Shiet you better get it. If you decide not too I’m only 150 miles from San Jose.

If you’re good with cars then it probably would be best to go for it since you won’t have to pay someone else to do it for you and that right there will save you a-lot. On the other hand if you are not good with cars then I’d use it for parts and part out the rest that you don’t use or sell it, trust me it’s a gsr for crying out loud you should have no problem selling it. People are always looking for them since they are getting supper ‘‘rare’’ . Also if you aren’t so good with cars BUT you want to learn this would be an excellent platform to learn on plus you can always fix your errors. Remember you’ll never learn how to fix things if you don’t go without breaking them first (at least once), b/c everything is a trial & error. Good find and I hope you do end up keeping it so best of luck to you sir.

If it does not have rust I say fix it.

is it me or does that valve cover look different? Is the B17 still in it or is is a different motor? I’m with everyone else, if there is no rust or body damage its worth bringing back to life. Honestly from the pictures i didnt see anythign too bad, just some cobwebs here and there and some missing parts. nothing major.

keep it no matter what!..dont need another gsr going to the yard

that is a rare car specially in that color just need some tlc and if that engine starts then your set and im sure u can find some of the stuff u need at your uncles yard

For some odd reason this forum is not letting me add more pics. I’ve been through numerous intergas. Usually they were just daily drivers. This will be an extensive project for me. I’ve tackled some big things in the past, so we’ll see how it goes. I think this would be my SIXTH integra! LOL. Let me list them below…

1992 Integra LS
2000 Integra GS-R
1990 Integra GS
1991 Integra LS
1992 Integra LS
2002 RSX-S
1996 Integra GS-R

Six or seven, depending on how you look at it. Here is a link to the DB2 Album. I’ll be taking pictures and making updates

I’ve seen people bring back worse. Since it’s a DB2 I say bring her back. If you don’t think you can, grab it and put it for sale on this site. There’s enough die hards that would kill for what you found. Just don’t let it stay there to be stripped and crushed. I’ve seen a few in my area junkyards at the point of no return, and it makes me sad every time.

why yes we are hahaha… is the only reason I keep mine around… I know I can find parts on craigslist or locally super easy and cheap from other G2 owners

Definately worth brining back to life. I am also in San Jose and if you need a hand, shoot me an email. tkn31@ yahoo.com. We can chat.

The interior is done. Gauge cluster in, door panels in, ignition, etc. All the cut harnesses were put back together.

Nice man!!! Post some update pictures
