So I’m drivin toward the cemetary to visit my uncle. Then out of no where I see the infamous red n blue. So I pull over…
“What’s wrong sir? I don’t believe I was speeding…”
“No you weren’t. Your driving was fine. Its your car.”
“What is it?”
The shit he got me for…
1.modified exhaust(aren’t flowmaster mufflers 50 state legal?"
2.cars too low. He said the bottom of the headlight has to be 20 inches or more.
3.license plate sitting too low. He says the bottom of the plate has to be a minimum of 12 inches.
4.he says I’m not suppose to run just yellows,(fogs on 1piece),by themselves in the daytime.
Then he tells me to pop the hood…
“Hey that intake isn’t legal”
“Yes it is. I have the carb sticker at home. Its an AEM(yea right). I dint put it on cuz I didn’t like how it looked.”
“Well you need to have it on. Make sure you put it on. And I see you got the good headers. DC’s are good”
What a dick. What should I do? Go back to stock everything? Fight it? Any thoughts? My car’s been like this for about 8 months. I’ve driven by cops countless times. And now one just happens to pull me over and write me a fixit ticket. Dam california laws! >=(
Geez Christian, that cop didn’t know squat. You should read up on the Calif vehicle code book (it’s online). The exhaust is not about emissions, it about noise and decibel level. If u told him that it was 50 state legal and an OEM replacement, unless he happens to have a decibel meter to see if it was 95 db, they really don’t have much to say. I haven’t got pulled over yet, but I am waiting. Also, the height for the lights is 22 inches from the middle of the headlight, not the bottom. I believe the license plate doesn’t matter, as long as u have a front and a back one. I think the rule is no part on ur car can be lower than the wheel rim at the bottom.
Stealth is the only way to go. I am sure you don’t want to hear this, but I went to walgreens in Westbourgh tonight and my gf went inside while I waited in the car with it running. It was cold plus I wanted to listen to some tunes. A SSFPD parked right next to me, went inside, came back out, jumped in his car and took off. Didn’t even give me a second look.
So all he gave you was a few “fix it” tickets? Fuck man you got off easy. Just fix all of the things then get it visually inspected and your good to go. Take it to court the judge will more than likely just dismiss it.
If their fix it tickets, Listen to steve’s advice its mostly correct.
Except the exhaust one, Unfortunately anything thats not OEM is technically a cause to pull you over… Measure your headlights. if it’s 22" or more from the CENTER of the headlights have it signed off. Not sure about the plates… Driving with just yellow fogs on in the day is not illegal.
Been driving with just yellow fogs on (wannabe daytime running lights) for 5 years and have never heard anything about it, And my friends that do get pulled over for them fight it and win.

LAPD doesn’t have time to mess with modified Hondas, they have bigger fish to fry. I NEVER got hassled in my DA for modification when in the city of L.A.
[QUOTE=kNOwLedGe420;1995336]Not all of California.

Troof, I never get hassled or even looked at in Los Angeles. Soon as I leave LA, that’s when I get nervous. You guys are just bringing extra attention to yourself when you try to look all flashy. Cops do NOT like hondas looking cool, this means a pull over. You guys should understand this by now.
the thing about the fog lights is many new cars such as the latest Acura MDX have their fogs as DRLs, though they are white bulbs rather than yellow fogs.
manufacturers are creating a grey area in terms of legality.
and the code does not specify use of fogs as DRLs–whether or not it is legal. Obviously having fogs on during mid-day is not substituting headlights with fogs.
You can’t compare what comes on a new car to the DA.
DRLs on new cars run at a reduced voltage of the bulb regulating how bright the bulb is.
Fogs on the DA are on at 100% brightness at all times.
Big difference.
Obviously having fogs on during mid-day is not substituting headlights with fogs.
People can perceive that differently. Fogs on a DA are right next to the headlight (unlike other cars which mount the fogs below the headlights in the bumper) which can be mistaken for hi-beams.
thats true, but several older model (mid 90s) saturns have DRL fogs on all the time, located right next and in line to the headlight. DA fogs with their glare shields in place aren’t particularly bright at all.
in the end it comes down to how bored a LEO is as far as the fog light issue is concerned.
