i just installed my inline fuel pump between my filter and the fuel rail. now my fuel pressure gauge shows i only have like 4 psi at idle. i know that it can’t be or my car wouldn’t be able to idle. anybody know why it only says i have 4 psi? thanks!
where is the gauge in relation to the pump?
it’s on the filter so it’s before the pump
there is no pressure before the pump…move the gauge so it’s after the pump
ohh!! i’ve heard stories of the gauge breaking though cuz of all the pressure from the fmu and the gauge only goes to 100 psi. has that happened to you? thanks!
I suppose it’s possible that it could break from to much pressure. But that’s the only way your going to be able to get your pressure gauge to work.
you could get another gauge that reads farther then 100psi. Although I would think that you wouldn’t be hitting 100psi of fuel pressure… Or have you heard of it breaking at lower pressures?
well stock fp is around 40 psi. I have the 12:1 fmu and an inline and i’m boosting 7 psi. 12 x 7 = 84 + 40 = 124 psi. A couple of my friends put it onto their turbo’d cars and the gauge broke the same day. which gauge reads more then 100 psi? i’d like to have one under the hood just to check my pressure. thanks!
i’ll do some digging tomarrow. It’s almost 1am and I just got home. So tomarrow I’ll see what I can find.
I’m running a 10:1 FMU with a pressure gauge on the fuel rail. 12psi boost…the pressure gauge has worked just fine for almost a year now. Get a quality gauge…not that POS B&M uses with their FPR
My guage Maxed out at I don’t know what psi (when I used an inline pump) but it still works fine twas a B&M. I actually have two guages one on the filter and one at the rail. I highly suggest both, it helped me imensely in troubleshooting my fueling issues. Your guage shouldn’t be reading 4 psi even at the filter. The pressure at the filter should be close or a little higher than the pressure at the rail.
