fuel pump kill switch security

i hooked mine up and it doesnt cut off the car, it just makes it rev higher, i guess i’m retarded or my car is wierd. can some one help

which wires did you cut?

the green and black one just like the picture.

ok i got it, when its cold it wont start, but after it gets warmed up, with the seitch off it will still turn on, until you hit the gas then it cuts out. so i guess it works.

I know this is a really old topic but can some one tell me if its the green wire with a black stripe that is located between a white wire and a black wire that has two leads coming from it???:squint:

It is the only Green wire with a black stripe in the main fuel relay. To make sure you have the right relay, it is the one under the dash that if you were sitting in the seat is to the left of your knee, almost straight ahead. It says mitsuba on it, and is on the back of a bracket(toward front of car) that holds another relay. hope that makes sense, if not just let me know. Ive done it a few times. also, you could just cut the wire and hook up the switch. If it works, you got it. If it doesnt, solder the wire back to its original form. HTH!

Like an idiot Im going to ask…:rimshot:

…so its not the one on the left, right above the fuse box…

BumP 4 Knowledge

its not RIGHT above the fusebox, it is a little farther toward the passenger side. You have to take off the driver side knee panel, then the metal thing behind the knee panel. when you are sitting in the driver’s seat, it will be about where you left knee is (approximately) and just a little ahead. like I said, it is located on a bracket that holds two relays, the one you want is on the side toward the front of the car. it says MITSUBA on it, and is a pretty good size relay with maybe 14? wires coming out of the harness that goes to it. The relay itself is probably 2.5-3" long and 1-1.5" thick/wide. LMK if you still cant find it and I’ll try to help you more.

Key switch

Also you can put in an keyed switch like this one I installed on an customers car.

How much would one of those cost shipped to 95117???

I would also be interested if you are selling them, you didnt say you were, but I’m not sure, lol. Shipped to 98226. Do you solder the wires to it, or are there two male ends that you clip female crimps or w/e onto? thanks!
here’s a pic of a main fuel relay I took out of my old car:

key switch

If you need an key switch I can ship them out for 30.00. All you need is eye wire connector. It has two small screws on the bottom just hook the wires up to them and your good to go. You also need an open spot to put the key switch that dosen’t have any thing metal to ground out the two terminals on the bottom. Drill out the whole to place the switch and turn the two screws to lock in place.

i have a question about doing this mod… my dad claims that if i were to run out of fuel, that i would ruin the injectors. Technically this is doing the same thing by not allowing any fuel to pass so would this ruin the injectors or is my dad bs’ing…?

fuel cut off

Your dad is right but it’s an yes and no answer. You can damage your injectors if you were cranking the motor over and over for some time not sure how long it would take. This will heat up the injectors and cause them to fail since there is no fuel passing thur to kool them down. Have ever felt the the gas hose after pumping gas at the station and it was very cold well same thing applies here also. So if you were to try to start the car just in an very shot time this shouldn’t hurt the injectors.

Seeing how you would only be doing it to make sure that it works it doesnt seem to me to be such a big deal. Now someone were to try and steal your car every night for a week or two and the injectors did go bad I would have to say two things, move, and replacing injectors is cheaper than replacing a car!!!

EDIT: I started mine about five or six times and it still works fine, the car dies after 5 or 6 seconds so I think anyone stealing the car would get the picture, also does anyone know if its possible to COMPLETELY relocate the relay?

mR742: did you find the relay and get it working?

Just finished about ten minutes ago, Im thinking about the clutch kill switch too, have you don this one yet???

PS You abosolutely HAVE to remove the uder-dash panel and the metal frame unless your some sort of contortionist…

EDIT: And the pic made it a hundred times easier because it was the only relay that I saw with a red recepticle

glad to hear it helped, have fun w/ ur new secure teg! I havent done the clutch one tho.

Yea its nice to have a little peace of mind:ohyeah:
