Garrett turbo 900, 90 ls

Hiooo,

I found a brand new garrett turbo kit with rebuilt snail. A/R 60, trim 63. I am buying it for my 90 ls and I want your opinions on it. Comes with everything for installation, it is a bolt on kit. Blow off valve, turbo, intercooler, downpipe, gauge, gasket, everythng. He wants 900 for it because he was going to put it in his 94 teg but is building a new drag car. He says he bought the kit for 2000. Worth it or not? thanks :hmm:

might have to redo intercooler piping (although im guessing the kit doesnt come with an intercooler)

Does come with intercooler, its really big though so they just say they’d have to cut some off of my front bumper and the piping might have to be custom but a friend told me if I only run 5 or 6 pounds of boost I wont need new injectors or a new ecu, i can do it stock for now and upgrade when I want more boost, yes?

5psi max on an FMU

What’s an FMU? I was embarrassed to mention this but my integra is auto by the way…

So whats the Fuel Management that comes with the kit?

You most certainly cannot run ANY boost without some form of fuel management, even if its shitty fuel management.

Thanks a lot for everyone who replied, you were right about the FMU and I can’t use an ecu or injectors with my 90 teg because of the something 0 and 1 and I have 0 not 1. So the mechanic www.jerrybuiltracing.com told me I can get an FMU and install the turbo. He said 150 for FMU probably and 200 for installation (400 with Custom piping which h recommends) does everyone recommend i get custom piping also and what is the advantage, thanks a lot =)

NO NO NO

You are OBD0

Look at TurboEdit - www.turboedit.org

Then read my site - www.xenocron.com for more info about TurboEdit

You could get everything and do it yourself for $150…tell your mechanic to shove that FMU up his ass!!! AHahhha

+1 - I agree dont bother with an FMU. I’d be concered about a mechanic that tells you to use an FMU… :hmm:

Also don’t forget injectors. DSM 450’s or 390’s can be had for $20 - 30. Just get em cleaned and tested and your all set. An upgraded fuel pump isn’t neccisary but it good for piece of mind.

I have somewhat of a complete partslist on my Project page.

Thanks you guys, i think im going with this. A mechanic told me not to get an FMU I’ll “blow my sh** up” so I think im gonna go with the OBD1 conversion which needs a pigtail for like 175 bucks then a new distributor i believe? Then get RC injectors and the Hondata s100. Anyone think i shouldnt?

Save yourself some money on the OBD1 Conversion…
