i was wondering what kind of mileage everyone is getting in their g2 with their current set up.
i think im doing good. my car is stock except for the cai and the clutch and im getting 101 miles on 10$. that 3.5 gallons. so like 30mpg city.

The only way to know exactly what mpg you’re getting on any particular tank of gasoline is to fill up the tank all the way to the top each time you fill up, take odometer readings, and divide miles driven by number of gallons purchased to fill the tank back up to the top. Anything else (250 miles to a tank, etc) is just a very rough estimate.
That said, my completely stock Integra 2-door with manual transmission (now at 248,000 miles) has, over the last 10 years of data collection, averaged somewhere around 28 or 29 mpg if memory serves. Mind you, I have gotten tanks as low as 20 mpg and I think my best-ever tank on a long road trip was a hair over 42 mpg. Naturally, mpg will suffer in city driving, cold weather, etc.
And of course, heavily modified cars (turbo, etc) will probably not do as well as unmodified cars.
gotten from 29 to 31 depending on my driving habits and where i drive to.
calculated with gal pumped from a full tank.

lol who needs a hybrid…
I topped off with middle grade last week and drove 250 miles to and from Folsom Cali. Im now siting on 309 miles and still have about 20 or so mile left to go. But like said on top, it how you drive that matters. Iv got 210 on a topped tank and sometimes got only 190.
thats not to bad. whats mods do you have?
No mods to the motor but the motor is new. I have KYB shocks and eiboc spring lowed 2 3/4 of an inch. Stage 2 clutch and high flow water pump. with 2 1/3 piping
I’ve done this a few times and if i do all highway driving, I have reached 400 miles to a full tank to just about empty quite a few times (only to test of course) (30mpg)
City driving I average around 85 miles per 1/4 tank so around 340 which is just about where it should be (25.75mpg)
Setup is a freshly rebuilt B1 block w/ A1 head, SRI, Header, Test pipe, stock exahaust, MSD Blaster SS coil, MSD Cap, New wires plugs etc, aluminum full size radiator and 12" slim fan, a/c and p/s delete, full synthetic oil & stage 2 Exedy Clutch w 92 LS trans. Valve lash is set to Honda specs
running 93 octane Shell V-Power or Chevron…
Its pretty much a new car…
30-32mpg if no AC, and 29mpg if using the AC.
This is with a B16 (second gen OBD1) with egay CAI and 2.25" kteller exhaust.
This is also a DB1 so I am a tad heavier (~100lbs I think)
Of course, I have to retard the crap out of the timing to get it to pass emissions. If I leave it there, I get ~25mpg. I move it to ~16-18 btdc
This is in stop and go highway traffic (30 miles one way 5 days a week), using a short geared transmission, and shifting mostly at 4k rpm. If I can get to 70MPH, I am at 4.2k rpm. I am not ragging on it, but I am not babying it either. I don’t floor the throttle, if I were to guess, I think I am getting close to 1/2 throttle when accelerating. Maybe a little less.
As a side note, if I shift at 3k rpm, I get ~27mpg. I tested this over 5 tanks of gas, and consistently got that mpg. Since this car is my dd, but I only drive it to work and back (have other car that is nicer for when I am with the family, and have to pug them around) I am only driving it on the same highway, and can get a fairly decent baseline. The biggest variable is traffic, which is pretty big. Ehhh, its the best I can do “scientifically” without renting a closed track for a month or 3.
i got around 330km to a full tank ($40) - this is with a b20b, a seized passenger caliper, an LS ecu throwing multiple codes and a roofrack with huge amounts of downforce… oh yeah i just got it swapped so i can’t help but rip it…
on my old 91 DA with the stock b18a i would usually get around 400-450km a full tank…
i have a stock motor with headers and catback exhaust ranging about 250 miles a tank used to get about 340 miles or somewhere in that range just recently my car has been smoking out of the exhaust real bad and burning alot of oil i bought some stuff called no smoke and from what ive heard its a temporary fix which would do wonders for me lol but i read the instructions and it says pour in the crankshaft container while car is idling at normal temperature now i may sound stupid when i ask this but do that mean turn my car on let it warm up then pour it in where i pour my oil in at in the head? i really need to put this in asap so please any ideas on how to make it stop burning oil as much or how to put this stuff in would be great
i average 300-330 miles on a full tank. driving to and from work a week.
mostly fwy, but i also drive city on my days off. The most i’ve gotten until my car actually died on the fwy was 390 miles.
stock b18a, straight piping, with exhaust, 225k original miles.

All that does is thicken the oil. I have used it before and it will stop some blowby but not if it’s extreme. Also it does not seem to work well for long if you are leaking out of you valve stem seals. It can also do damage on cold starts in sub freezing temps. It can settle in the oilpan and on a cold start starve the engine of oil.
The info above is from personal experience and things I have read on various forums and friends experiences.
ok well do you have any info on how i can get it to stop without having to spend alot of money cause xmas is coming up and thats breaking me right now… the oil isnt leaking just real rich and the motor is burning alot of it its like right as soon as i hit 3k on rpms a bunch of smoke comes out
Not really. There is no cure short of taking it apart and seeing what’s bad. You can go the “stop smoke” route. Just realize you may not stop smoking and can do more damage from oil starvation if it clogs any holes in the oiling system.
I had the same problems an found it was the ring lands on the pistons (from what your describing, it is probably the same problem). I never got to fix it as I dropped/burned a valve about 2months after I diagnosed it.
What oil weight are you running? You could move up if your not in a cold climate. I would not goto 50wt, but a 10-30 or possibly a 20-50. Though I would not high rev the engine if you do that. I assume you want to keep the engine and rebuild it soon.
29 mpg stop and go highway mileage with A/C kickin… 32 mpg highway with no stopping. 28 mpg city.
B20 vtec (fully balanced)
Stock B17 GSR head
84.5mm RS race Type R replica pistons (Running about 13:1 CR)
S2 Type R IM/ AEM CAI
Egay header
2.5" exhaust

ive been runnig 10w 30 but just 2 days ago i put in 40 i live in pretty much cool weather right now 75 days around 55 or 60 nites. i am assuming it has something to do with the pistons cause recently theres been a slight knocking noise under the head… im not really sure how to take these motors apart or anything like that but i do have a freshly rebuilt head and block i wanna put in soon just dunno how i used to have a volkswagen just recently got this beast it was junk when i got it had 153k with a busted radiator bad water pump slight oil leak (drain bolt) and all bad water hoses such as heater hose top and bottom radiator hoses bypass hose pretty much a dogged out car im just trying to learn as much as i can along the way but its my dd so hard to do anything to it
WOW… how are some of you guys getting 300+ miles to a tank? I think most for me was 269 miles/tank and 240 miles/tank with roof rack.
Hmm… should I do a complete cleaning of all fuel/air components?
stock car, mostly highway w/ some city. i get around 26mpg. reaches empty at around 280 per tank. last time i filled up, i was suprised i got 300 a tank. maybe because i topped off filling up. and my gas light never goes on because i think the bulb might be out haha
You guys probably get more miles to a tank than you think. Isn’t the capacity 13 gallons? At 26 mpg you would get around 338 per tank. My low fuel light doesn’t even blink on til I hit 300+ miles after a fill up. I usually can get anywhere from 364 to 415 miles per tank. To check your mpg, fill up the tank and reset your trip odometer. Next time you fill up the car, divide the mileage on the trip odometer by the amount of fuel needed to fill the car. Ie: Trip odometer reads 312 miles, it takes 12.11 gallons to fill the tank, you’re getting 25.76 mpg.
