Post pics of where you mount your gauges. Looking for different ideas besides the typical pillar mount pods… thanks
heres how i had my oil pressure gauge a couple years ago. since then i have removed it and replaced it with a new bezel with my vents.
I’m building a DIN style mount to install 3 mini gauges right above where the my radio is installed. (The radio is installed in the lower of the 2 DIN spaces).
Please show pics once you’re done. I would love to have all my gauges in the DIN area but unfortunately I cannot drive anywhere without blasting up my music or else I fall asleep…
b18integraboy - nice custom job but don’t you hate not having vents?
No problem. I have everything drawn up already “blueprints-style”. The problem is that the standard 2.125-inch gauges will not work in the DIN area as you would think (without shaving some plastic). That’s what I thought, but it won’t fit in there along with something else in another DIN slot. You’ll need the 1.5 inch style of guages that are a little harder to find, but I got some from Autometer: http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugelist.aspx?sid=1&opid=2&szid=1
One of my friends putt his gauges on the door panel. He modded a pillar mount to fit just above the speaker. Ill see if he can send a pic so i can post it up for you.
You can use 2.125 gauges in the DIN slot, just need to play with the plate and get a double DIN holder.

Coz
I remember that thread. It didn’t work with the gauges I had. Or perhaps my radio is oversized (doubtful), or the Equus gauges I had were oversized. The guy also had to dremel out some of the plastic from the console. Meh. I did that already to a point but I don’t like really messing around with the plastic in the car.
Here’s how my setup looks like.
Coz
Looks sick. Is that a cup holder i see:squint: GOD i need one of them.
Thanks.
LOL yah it’s a cupholder. It slides right in where the ashtray goes, and I figure this would be better than an ashtray I’m not gonna use. I got it from a group buy here a long time ago, they kinda suck but work ok on like regular can sized beverages. Anything bigger it won’t really hold it when you make turns.
Coz
I’m in again.
I was thinking about making one that mounts the gauges where the vents are for fun. I’m pretty sure I don’t need any more gauges.
ill have to take pics of mine. i have two on the a pillar. one in the left vent and two others where the radio is supposed to be.
had to do a little bit of trimming on the plastic and on the metal holder for the stereo but they fit fine-
Last one is where the boost gauge sits on the steering column shroud, I made it fully removable in about 1 minute with a wingnut on the base, connector on the wires and a pneumatic connector for the vac/boost. It is positioned so that you can still see all of every dash gauge when driving.
Ominous, I like your little “No Smoking” cap. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Would you mind telling me where you got it?
Wow some nice custom gauge mounts in here!
I got mine at Advance Auto Parts, I’ve heard that Pep Boys has them also.
I know Napa has them too, part number at Napa is 782-7683.
one of my all time favorite pictures.

Another idea (where mine will end up):
