Why Tokico Blue’s Alan? They will probably just blow too before long, especially if you’re going lower.
The H&R race springs are nice and will give you that “tucked wheel” look in the front. But I think you should get a better shock. Like maybe Illumina’s or AGX’s.
My dad has Koni Yellows on his Miata. He has them turned as soft as they will go and that shit still rides super stiff. Personally I thought my car with Illumina’s was a more comfortable ride (but that could always be the difference between the 2 cars).
Go for the Koni’s Alan. H-T Sponsor
I’d even go for the g3 if you wanted to go lower.
My car’s slammed on steelies, and it feels like stock.
I used to have them GR2’s and Tanabe Springs too, but like you said, the ride at first was great, but after a while it just felt like shit.
The Tokico’s will probaly be just as bad as the GR2’s slammed that low.
If you want that drop w/ good ride, Check out the Neuspeed sports. 1.8 all around. 1 1/2 to 2 finger gap. Depending on fat or skinny fingers.
As far as shocks, get the Koni reds; or yellows if you wanna adjust. I don’t really like my GR2s either. Dirt roads make the 'teg sound like it’s suspen. is gonna fall off.
HellaSloH: I think that was just the Miata talkin.
Probably the fact that the Miata only weighs 2200lbs :giggle:
I just think if you’re going to upgrade your suspension you’d better get something you know FOR A FACT will ride nice and last you. Rather then play the odds and try to save a few bucks.
I just need it to stop bottoming out with a good looking drop.
I want to do a afew grand in suspension upgrade’s when allowed.
Im going to pick up a new car early to mid July, So the DB1 will only be driven about twice a week.
Which is when im going to start doing more upgrades… Such as have the car repainted, interior re-upholstered/replaced, 5 lug conversion, Suspension overhaul etc…
So saving afew hundred makes a difference. I think im going to go with Tokico Illumina’s and H&R Race springs. which will be about $580.
Not to mention i got a crap load of other thing’s i have to fix.
-My Radiator has a crack in it.
-The smart previous owner cut and welded the upper control arm in the rear for camber correction.
-Both axles are bad
-The resonater is dented to hell
-It need’s a valve adjustment
-It’s leaking oil from 3 different locations
-The sway bar is missing a bracket so it’s loose
-The shifter bushings are pretty much gone
-The shift linkage is extremely loose
There’s more problem’s i am sure of it.
The starter was going out so i had that replaced, The PS Belt broke off in which case took out the A/C belt and knocked off the tensioner pulley.
Friday im supposed to get the belt’s installed and pulley replaced.
So there are alot more important thing’s to do then waste $700 on suspension upgrade’s when i am not going to use them to the fullest.
All my DB does now is sit in rush hour traffic for 3 hour’s a day. It just take’s me from point a to point b. No mountain or track running.
Alan,
I think I have an extra rear sway bar bracket. I broke a bracket in the past and the dealership only sells them in pairs.
You didn’t specify if it was the front or back, so let me know and I’ll make sure to hang onto it for ya.
It was all cool until the payroll girl came in to give me something and made a funny face.
Out of the 50+ hours I spend sitting in my office a week, I get maybe 3 or 4 visits from various people most weeks. Figures the time they choose to walk in.
hey Alan,
i have a set of koni/eibachs for sale. preassembled so its easy to install.
lemme know if you’re interested.
btw, why spend alot of money on suspension you only plan to drive twice a week. IMO, if you wanna spend a little, i’d go with tien full coilovers. they are great for DD cars.
