If you’re going to try to bash me, stay out please.
I received some ground control coilovers from a seller on here on friday and opened the box to find blue sleeves. I’ve never seen blue ground control sleeves before and the seller insist that they are first generation ground controls. Well I’ve contacted ground control and will hear from them tomorrow.
Well there’s a bigger problem. I finally got around at looking them carefully again today because I’ve been busy with work and picking up some christmas gifts. Well, the threads on two of the sleeves have threads that are stripped. I’ve never heard that “used” coilovers came with stripped threads on the sleeves. There was never any warning about them being stripped. So I am asking the g2ic community to help me and giving me advice in solving this, or I will just go ahead and file a paypal dispute.
And no, this not only paint missing. The threads are gone. I don’t find these sleeves just used, but more like they were abused. If mods feel that this thread should not be in the general discussion, please move it to the dispute area. I am not here to stir up any trouble, but I am here to resolve some issues. I find this is like purchasing a pair of “used” jdm headlights from a member and they don’t even bother mentioning that there’s a crack or something. I would understand that is expected from the sellers on ebay, but not from the members of g2ic.
in regards to your other thread, did you ever hear from ground control as far as them being legit. they DO look like OG ground controls. however i wouldn’t go as far as saying they are abused. they’ve probably been used since mid-late 90’s and after adjusting them enough, or pretty moderate track use (not sure if there was any, but just giving an example) there is bound to be significant wear and tear. theses coil-overs are bound to be around 10 years old (i guess). just contact the guy you bought them from and ask for a refund or something. if you genuinely aren’t happy with the product, i dont see why he would be offended or mad at the request of a refund.
when you bought them, did you ask for pics beforehand? if so, did the pics shown look anything like what you bought?
thats usually the first thing i do when i buy things from members on here or other integra forums. i ask for current pics of the item i’m buying just to make sure beforehand, that i’m gonna be getting good product.
hope everything goes well for you in the long run. worse comes to worse, sell em to a ricer and tell them they came off of a dedicated race-car or something.
Ground control will get back to me tomorrow. I did not ask for pics because I thought they were in good condition. His discription just said “used” and I figured they were just used. I understand they may not have been abused, but I believe it was much of his responsibility to mention that some of the threads were stripped as it was mines to ask. I trusted him because he was suppose to meet me up so I can pick them up. The only reason I didn’t ask for pics because he was going to meet up with me and he said that he’ll just ship it out because he’s busy with working over time. I was in a hurry to get them because I had a buyer for my springs so I needed them off asap. That is until I saw them. I don’t even care about the shipping cost, I’d rather have what I paid for them back and just ship it back to him. He may not have seen that it was stripped because he picked them up from his “buddy’s” place and shipped them out. To me, it’s like selling a set of used rims. If there’s curb rash, you mention it because it’s crucial for the buyers to know. And also, if these on first generation Ground controls, why didn’t he mention anything about it before hand. Seriously, not many people know if such things like this exist. If it was mentioned, i would have asked what the differences are and what not.
Dude… I will just give you ur money back. You will find many things wrong with the item. First wanna you say its not ground control second wanna say its stripped. I will send your money back tomorrow and expect the coilovers to be shipped out tomorrow as well. You start 2 threads about things and thinking of filing a dispute with paypal. Be a fucking adult and send me an email about the second problem rather then sending me a link to this thread… enough said… .too much drama…
I only said it was not ground control based on the feedback I received from several others on here. I was only skeptical about it and was going off what they said. And now I wanna say they’re stripped? They are stripped. The only reason I didn’t email you this because it sounded like you didn’t want to refund my money in the first place. I was only asking others for the right thing to do. Sorry if I don’t sound like an adult to you.
honestly its the buyers fault… you didnt ask for pics of anything… thats your problem… the seller is right, if you have a problem, you should take it up with him, not ask everyone elses opinion. It is not the seller’s responsibility (sure it would be nice that they give an exact description), its the buyer’s to ask for pictures and know what they are getting. You bought blind, you got what you asked for.
I bought blind because he was willing to meet me 40 miles away and I figured he would have mentioned something if there was any problem with them. I figured, why waste his time and mines? If I saw these in person, I’m sure as hell wouldn’t have purchased them. He offered to ship them because he could not meet up with me anymore because he said he needed to work overtime. I guess it’s part of my fault too. And pictures can barely capture the stripped sleeves. I understand what you are saying, but I believe it was much of his responsibility also. i’ve never read up on coilover sleeves stripping and etc. so how could I have known? There’s not much complaining about coilovers and the sleeves stripping aside from ebay coilovers and etc. I don’t know…i just want this over with.
…INTERESTING…we have consistantly used red sleeves for over 10
years.
We have done custom colors, but VERY rarely. The nuts, when used
properly
will NOT slip or strip. From the photos, I think you may not have
gotten
what you payed for. I personally wouldn’t trust those sleeves. Do the
nuts
have the Ground Control logo on them?

Thank You, Don Feen, Ground Control Internet Sales
I’m waiting for my $110 in my paypal right now and I’ll take a shipping lost for the cost of shipping it back to you even though I shouldn’t.
