I’ve just found that some kit are made to fit H22A engine that I love in DA Integra. I want to do some lapping/autocross with the car. Here’s my questions:
1- Will I be able to keep the Power Steering system???
2- Will this motor that is heavier than a B-Serie will affect a lot in lapping/autocross?
3- Would I be able to use YS1 LSD Cable tranny with this?
4- The H22A is 35lbs heavier than a B-Series engine, will I be able to take around 35lbs of the front with weight reduction? (JDM Front bumper suport, CF hood, A/C removal .etc)
Your mount kit should be able to tell you if you can retain the P/S pump. As far as the motor being to heavy–the Hseries arn’t too much heavier then the Bseries. You shouldn’t have a problem with the weight. The trans–is that a cable or hydro? I’m pretty sure that you can use the trans. As long as the trans bolts to the adapter plate for the h2B swap. Which H2B kit are you getting, I only know of a few? and if you haven’t found a company for your axle, then check out “raxle.” G/L
I’ve kept searching after posting here and I’ve done some maths, I would like to know if you thing it’s got sense;
(I found my numbers here and on Honda-Tech forum)
Integra (MT) Curb weight: 2560lbs
Honda A/C: 33lbs
B-Series Short Block: around 104lbs
H-Series Short Block: around 123lbs
B-Series Tranny: around 90lbs
H-Series Tranny: around 96lbs
H-Series extra components: +10lbs
So heres the maths:
2560lbs - 104lbs = 2456 -> take out the B-series block (all engine)
2456lbs + (123lbs+10lbs) = 2589lbs -> Put the H-series block (all engine)
2589lbs - 33lbs = 2556lbs -> remove A/C
So if I done this right, with the H-Serie Engine and A/C removed, we have the same weight. The question is, does the head of B & H series weight around the same thing? I don’t know. But if we feel that the DA is front heavy, we are able to take out some weight in front:
JDM Bumper Support = -20lbs (That’s what Password:JDM said)
Carbon Fiber Hood = I have no idea, but I estimate 20lbs or more.
What do you think about this??
Opinions or correction would be greatly appreciated
“2- Will this motor that is heavier than a B-Serie will affect a lot in lapping/autocross?”
herd on team-integra that having an h22 is not good for autox or any hard cornering. Somthing about you wont be able to turn as much compared to a b series.
You can also take out your P/S, relocate the battery to the rear of the car. You have to be careful of that though–the battery in the trunk, if it’s not in a well vented area, it could harm you pretty bad from the fumes. You can also get ahold of Seibon and see if they can make you some CF fenders. I might be wrong, but if you look at maybe the XSI hood (CF) I think that seems in the hood might be the opposite way. i.e–instead of there being an indent, there will be a raise in the hood. Giving you more clearance. I could be wrong on that though, but it would be easiesr to put some spacers in the rear. Make it look real aggressive:mad: .
Let me ask you, why are you doing the H2B swap? If you did the math, and they came out both the same weight–are you doing it to get the shorter G/R?
Yeah, I understand you wanting to keep the DA. I had a DA but I wrecked it. Now I have an EF. I love that thing, but would love to have a DA for a Daily driver. But my question was, why do you want to do to the B-Sereis trans? Do you want to do it just becuase, or becuase of the better gear ratio? I’m just saying, the kit is going to cost you around 700-900 dollars, depending on the kit you get and if you have the hook up.
I look at it as this. I think doing the H2B swap is bad ass, but I could find another way to spend the 8-9 hundred dollars ang getting more than .4 taking off my 1/4 mile time. I’m NOT trying to mislead you to not doing it, do as you will. But you’re def. going to want to get a traction bar. Also, you’re going to want to get an LSD trans. That will help you out a lot in autoX.
With the weight reduction a little bit in the front to make it even out with a B-sereis swap in the DA–you shouldn’t have a problem with doing autoX. A guy I know has a EK with an H22 in it, and his car handles amazing!!! And he as stock struts with S2 coilovers!!! If you’re going tobe doing autoX, you know that you’re car is going to be set up a lot better then that. What suspension and whatnot are you planning on running? I don’t know if you’ve heard of Function7, but I would say get those is you’re going to upgrade your rear lower control arms.A+++++
I want the Integra Xsi Ys1 Lsd tranny with the H22 because: It’s lsd, kind of cheap, and I’ve heard it will make the H22 really fun to drive.
I will not spend a lot on the swap at first since I wanna upgrade a lot into the suspension and weight reduction. Here’s the set-up I’m heading with:
KSport 36-ways Full Coilovers
ESP Traction Bar
ESP 3-Points Front Upper Strut Bar
ESP 4-Points Rear Strut Bars
EM Racing “Quick Release” C-Pillar Bar
Suspension Technique F & R Anti-Sway Bars
Fonction7 Rear Lower Control Arms
You’re love the KSprot. I have them on my car as we speak. The only that I would suggest is that you do some research on the ksports. the rear struts don’t last too long. From what I’ve read (after I got mine) is that the rear struts blow right after the year warrenty is up. I got min is Dec. and I haven’t had a damn problem with them, but then again it hasn’t been a year yet so we’ll see. Good choise on the Fucntion7’s. Those are soo fucking tight and they have the “bling” so when you’re driving people will see them shine. The Function7’s are the only LCA’s that Mugen uses…that should make you feel good!
Maybe look at some tie bars. The Cusco front tie bar and the skunk2 rear tie bar. What tires are you going to be using?
Silchuki14 that’s a pretty good list right there. I myself was planning on doing the h2b after winter, but i wasnt sure if that would effect my cornering. Keep us,me updated on this. I know it’s going to help me with my swap later on. Dont forget to take pictures Lots of pictures.
I think the placement (how high its sits in the engine bay) would be the main concern handling wise since the weights are pretty similar. IDK for sure but on mine it seems to sit in about the same same spot. No mods to the hood to fit. No AC or Pwr str. unless you got an electric pump for the p/s which I would recomend lol! But Im not using H2b so I dunno. I have yet to see the fitment of the H2b.
No it just looks gay and does nothing. Wow a little more airflo will go over your engine… And since everyricer ever has it on their car its kinda getting up their with altezzas.
