BUMP I’m also interested in knowing if people are running HIDs in their one-pieces!! and how it looks, fits, and problems if any!:read:
I think you need to drill a hole for the wires that go to the ballast. I will be doing it in the future.
thassss what i figured…i guess I will trace out the plastic lid of the foglight one piece and make another plastic lid for it…and drill thru that instead of messing up the OEM lid…
Im running HID’s in my 1pieces, but I also fabricated a holder with some silicone and some plastic lol, pretty ghetto but its fully aimable etc…, haven’t had any problems
hey man wanna give more information on your set up…how did you deal with the foglight lid on top…did you fabricate your own…thanks for sharing
Just take it out, I think theres a teg tip for it, you have to pull apart the headlamp though, then regasket it, what ever you do don’t crack it whilst pulling it apart, use a heat gun, not a blow drier like I tried lol…
The 3k hid will be yellow, so you don’t need the yellow cap thing inside it… gasket maker to regasket it lol…
as for my custom setup to hold it in, I used a plastic Junction box cover and dremeled a whole in the middle of it, and then trial and errored my way into a perfect fitting plastic piece, then siliconed the bulb to the back of the plastic… shrug just be a macgiver.
well u dont have to remove the yellow capsule to put in hid if im correct im talkin bout the plastic lid on top of the foglight lens
You can also use a screwdriver to aim them. [URL=“G2IC - Generation 2 Integra Club - Get help, show off mods, attend meetings, buy/sell parts, all for 1990-1993 Acura Integras”]Teg tip

Why did you need to pull the lights apart to install HIDS?
if you’re worried about the height of the yellow capsule and the HID bulb. get an H3C hid kit.
the length of the bulb I had would have touched the yellow bulb casing inside the headlamp, so I had to take that out,
and for the aiming, thats how I aim them lol
I am glad I asked before I ordered H3 HIDs. I will have to get the H3c kit, I just put my lights back together a few months ago, and they are permanently sealed.
I have H3 3000ks in my one pieces, i dremeled out a notch just enough on the cap to get the wires out yet sit snug. I left the yellow capsule on and my lights are very yellow, almost greenish tint when they first flicker on. You don’t even need to dremel into the foam, just the lip of the cap. And it was rained a lot lately and not leaked at all. I was worried about how long the bulb and the capsule contacting or melting but I havent had a problem and I’ve driven with them on most of the time for the last month. I’ve made sure to double check the capsule and its fine, no warping or melting.
hey man so u got 3000k hids…and the hid bulb didnt hit the yellow capsule at all being a regular h3 hid bulb…thas awesome…also if its not too much can you take some pics of your set up and how u hooked up the h3 hid kit to the regular wiring…thanks in advance man…it would help out a lot to m and others on here
Yes, it was a regular H3 3000K HID, not a shorter bulb. It does look VERY close to the capsule, and even with a couple hours of use at a time, after a month its been fine. If I was buying bulbs again, i surely would prefer to get one that didn’t run so close, but I got them on ebay and didn’t realize the bulb would be so long. I may have been lucky, so If you can get a shorter bulb do it for sure, or remove the capsule, but I wanted it super yellow. I used to have PIAA hyper yellows in them before and I liked the deep yellow it got me.
No, i bypassed the JDM headlight H3 wiring that runs through the housing and just went straight from the harness to the cap where the bulb is. Then I dremeled just enough on the lip of the cap to squeeze the wires for the bulb and put some silicon around it. I did not dremel very deep into it, it didnt touch the foam inner lining that goes around the cap. I was worried about leaks, but so far after a few storms the only thing leaking on my car are my taillights, which I’ll fix soon. You can’t see anything once its installed and I dont have my tools at my place today, so I’ll take some pics later if you need, I don’t think you need them though.

ok heres the shoddy photos i took with my phone. And also you can see my uneven dremeling and imperfect cuts. However, it works well, no leaks and you can’t see anything once its installed. If i was doing it again or a write up I definately would have slowed down and done a better job. I just got my flickr account and have never used it, so hopefully the links work out.
Here’s a close up of the shoddy notch I put on the thing haha. I did not cut deep enough to hit the foam around the lip of the cap.
here’s the notch in the housing
Here it is closed. It doesnt rub even though it looks like it does.
So if i was doing it again, id take more time, cut cleaner, maybe in a different spot exactly to make the connectors clear a bit easier behind the housing. Take into account I removed my reasonator box and hosing under the passenger headlight. My way works fine and is invisible when installed, but I’m sure it can be done nicer.
