I am going LS Turbo and am about to put a Thicker Head Gasket to lower the compression a bit. The shop ordered me this Multi Layer Steel Head Gasket made by COMETIC. I would just like to know if any one has ever used or heard of any news on this brand Head Gasket. My head is being shaved tomorrow and checked for anything that may be bad on it. Then about a day later it will be back at the shop for the start of putting her all back together…Let me know as soon as possible…Any info could help…Thanks…
Cometic head gaskets are a quality product, Good choice.
my buddy and i was just talking about that the other day and maybe doing it to my b17
Wow…Thanks for the quick responce…I will then put it on my LS…I can’t wait to post pics of the finished results…I will also post pics of the day by day struggle…Thanks again…
acura sells a good head gasket.
that is .030" thick, they don’t offer thicker than stock gaskets. I have used cometic gaskets on sr20det’s and all b-series honduhs. they have never given me a problem.
why would you need thicker than stock?
Boosting
explain.
I believe the thicker the Head Gasket…The lower the Compression…The Lower the Compression…The more you can Boost…I am only looking for like 8-10lbs for daily driving…She should be finished by Tuesday, the latest. Then another day or so at the Tune Shop…I’ll be ready for that meet in Daytona…If all go’s well…
Pics will be posted soon…When all is complete…
CANT WAIT. one question(not g2 related) how do you reduce the compression on a rotary engine ralph?
100% correct.
more like “the lower the compression, the less power you make at the same psi.” good luck with your build tho.
i believe c/r is determined by the shape of the rotor, and the amount of blowby. aftermarket seals may raise the compression a little bit, i’m not sure how you would lower it.
yea i would stay around the factory cr for an ls if ur boosting. most the people i talk to tend to stay close to 9.0cr but ive seen some with 10.5 and 15lbs of boost, so its all in the engine build and tune. the lower ur cr the safer it will be yes, but u will not get the power out of it that u will with a higher cr.
id like to know which shop is feeding you that bull crap.
stock compression- 10 psi = 240 hp(example)
lower compression- 10 psi = lower power.
lower compression-12 psi- 240.
why would you want to run more boost to get the same RELIABLE power, but risk it from running 12 psi.
You can run 10psi ALL DAY.
