I am starting a turbo build from a b17 block to go into my db2. I am removing the original motor and head to keep from destroying them. Found a b17 short block for $150 in Atl. From what I have searched there is not much difference in the b16, b17 and b18 heads. Differences in porting, polishing and valves. I am not concerned with the valve train as it will all be replaced. The big difference that I can see is the combustion chamber between the pr3 and p72 head. Is this going to make a difference either way? The p72 will also drop the compression, is this correct? Hp goal is mid 200’s, will be tuned with Hondata s300. Thanks in advance.
I am boosting with a B17 as well. A b17 is just like the B16 with upgraded cams…thats really about it…
If your going with the S300 for mid 200’s your better off just tuning with the hondata S100. A lot cheaper!
p72/gsr head will raise compression .4 over a b16/itr head.
a b17 cam next to a b16 cam is identical… still the worst b series cam made from the factory.
s100 does not have boost option… get it tuned by a crome pro dealer and save some $$ on software.
thanks for the replys. as far as valve train, what are opinions on Brian Crower valve springs? I have not heard to much about them and cannot find many reviews dealing with turbo applications.
we havent had any problems with BC springs from k, b and h series… also some supras and 350z
