New here to G2IC,

Looks like a great car, was that for sale on craigslist recently, it looks familiar. Bit of a catch 22 with having had the dash cover on the car - dash is likely better off for it in terms of fading and cracking but that double stick tape is a bitch to get off (not the tape itself but the marks/residue it leaves behind).
This one is different from the one currently on craigslist (pomona). Both very nice.
so clean, so oem. you guys in cali have the best stuff due to weather and proximity to japan
Sorta. We also have the highest percentage of absolutely ruined cars which will never recover from shaved bays and hellaflushstancetowhook bullshit. I swear it’s almost impossible to find anything clean and stock around here. But yeah, we don’t have much rust.
Very nice.
May I be the first to offer a suggestion for possible initial mods? New shift knob.
Anyone else care to offer a “do this first”?

There’s always the OG obligatory “slam it and one pieces” :hump:

AV turn’d DA reminded me of something in this thread: http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?218837-Suspension-Tips-92-GsR&p=2324981&posted=1#post2324981
I’d say shy away from “mods” and focus on making sure you bring the car back to it’s stock glory. 1st three things I’d do to any new G2 I bought:
I wouldn’t do a single aftermarket thing to the car until I gave it a full detail, tune up, and overhauled the suspension.

No JDM sticker?
OK, maybe a shoshinsha
For me the first “mods” are always catch up on maintenance that the PO may have neglected or just never got around to. Timing components are right at the top as far as priority goes. I must say the car looks damn good in white.

Good points. I might add checking for, and brushing out, any accumulated dirt around the inside edges of the rear wheelwells, especially back by the bumper. Becuz rust prevention . . .
thank you, the car looks better in person

Its actually a great find. pictures do no justice… Not for sale on CL but i was told by other friends that someone did indeed take some pictures that belong to me and used them on an Add on CL…
i actually like the dash cover, it has kept the dash in really good shape over the years of use from the PO.
I AGREE with you sir. Very hard to find an unmolested, original paint, one owner car… im very pleased with the car. completely original besides the radio and maybe a few other small things but over all a VIRGIN… and NO RUST
Still debating if i want to start tinkering with the car.

I have been tempted to go usdm 5 lug and put some TE37SL’s on, but i think ill hold off and keep the car stock…
I would say that the car has been meticulously maintained as the car doesnt really need much… But i will be taking care of all the maintenance and anything that the car will need. good thing i have a car lift at home…

The car will be getting all brand new seals and gaskets as well as belt, tensioner, water pump, oil pump, and so forth… Thanks, i was actually looking to buy a Aztec Green DB2, but this car will do for now…
Once i get the car on my lift i will be taking care of the underneath, will be refreshing all the bushings, new bearings if needed, basically a good resto underneath… this car is in good hands believe me
I once owned a '69 SS Camaro. Purchased from the original owner. Every time I considered mods my “car guy” friends would freak out. Meanwhile, a buddy of mine bought a '68 Camaro convertible that had a six and some kind of Powerglide (?) abomination. I envied him. He ripped out the six and dropped in a big block (the thunder of Thor) and some kind of rock-crusher tranny… Ultimately , he built a car that was far superior to my “factory original” SS. True, whomever has that SS these days is ahead financially, but I’d still rather be behind the wheel of that ragtop.
I am now the original owner of my '90 LS. In twenty years no one is likely to ask if the numbers match. I like that.
You don’t have to go 5 lug, there is a 4x100 version of the SL, but the offset really isn’t ideal. IMO it’s too aggressive for a DA. I have them on my car and it looks OK but I wish they were a little less aggressive. But for me I don’t care as much about looks because they are some of the lightest & strongest 15x8 wheels you can get and that’s why I bought 'em (car is built for track days).
Here’s what the 15x8 +25 4x100 SL’s look like. Looks pretty good from the side but straight on front or rear you can see how aggressive the fitment is.
If you’re gonna keep the car stockish and try to stay true to the original shape and era of the car then I think the SL is a bad choice regardless. Regular TE’s make sense, or some other older wheels.
