hello guys this is my DA lotsof workin being done

fuck what people say about your “butcher” job
i think its fucken awesome for you not knowing about body job, and just going by what you think.

maybe “butcher” means to him is “good job”

are you gonna open up your own school? i would sign up in a heart beat

i can picture it now

“P.B.K.U”-phat boy kustoms University

see, you add the “university” part to get govt grants to the “school” haha
jk
keep up the “butchering”

haha well i know a little something ,i don’t just guess hehe .but yeah he wasnt kidding ,he said some pretty harsh shit ,but thats fine,i’ll show them all ,people said shit about my crx and i flipped it on them .went from mad max to jawdropping in a few months with 90% of the work going down in july and august every day alot of all nighters by myself welding and cutting haha

now they don’t say shit … :bowthank: haha

haha my own school ha ha funny stuff

i’m working on my sub box today ,so i’ll show some pics of that later on …

later

man no offsense but do u really think its gonna come out the way u want it. i mean the shape of the tail lights totally throw the body lines off, but oh well its an old car so its good practice for the fab skills. not to many people have balls to even pull off a fender haha

eMpty-X-671

yes …yes i do ! yes the lights did throw off the lines of the car ,thats why i changed them .like it doesnt have a round rearend anymore .So how can it throw it off ? because its different ? …

have a good one

sorry for not updateing .i’m coming down with something …bullshit ,throwing up and ahhh i just feel sick and gross … but i’m working on the box today reguardless …

here is what ive come up with so far …

i guess i’m not going to mount the amps on it anymore ,after i laid out some stuff it was too stuffed up ,so i’m thinking the one 12inch subwoofer my filler kneck ,couple 6 inch speakers and a cap . should look allright i guess …but where to put the amps.??? hmmmm lol

well i’m workin on the rings and mounts for the 6inch speakers right now …and i hope to have it wrapped by lunch today …

well later

amps under the backseats?

man your car is lookin great i love your passion and the work you do you will make it real far with your skills keep up the great work :excite:

billabongrob
ummm i dunno if that would work .since the back seat is just foam they wouldover heat and well i don’t think there is enough room …

i’m thinking on the back of the seat.like behind the box …i dunno i’ll find a spot .id like to keep the spare tire area for the tire …so thats not an idea
i dunno haha

elementskaytr16
thank you bud ,hope so haha ,i actually just want to make the enthusiest area in the sunday paper ,i’d be happy with just that haha since i think my work is just as good as the guys with shops making it into that section …

the rings for the 6inch speakers… should look good once i finish shapeing them …i like the way it looks when the speakers are sunk in an inch or so …gives it a cleaner look i think

workin on the cap mount right now ,and then its the filler kneck BS haha .i’ll then sqaure it up ,lock it down and wrap it

later:wave:

are those 6 inch subs? mid bass? or coaxils? do not put coaxils in the rear, unless of course you’re doing that on purpose in order to listen to your music from the rear with the hatch open for show purposes.

Just an FYI i use to install car audio professionally and you should not mix a sub and 6" speaker in the same box as far as common enclosure. If you can find a way to separate the enclosures, it will sound and perform much better. In addition, if you are going to install anything other than a sub in the hatch area it will throw off your vehicle sound staging so make sure to adjust for this. If you are just looking to enhance your over sound by putting speakers back there then might I suggest trying a set of 8” and set-up you crossovers something like this. 0 to 90 Hz 12” 85 to 210 Hz 8”. Front stage aka front speakers. Mid range driver 5” or 6” from 100 Hz to 1.2k Hz tweeter 1k Hz to 20 kHz. These settings are just guideline so you will have to try to mess around with once you get your car set-up. I love your devotion to your project and not caring what other people have to say. If you have, any questions about your audio set-up let me know and I will do my best to help you.

yeah i was thinking the same thing about closeing it up … like even if i put 2 6inch subs it will sound funny correct . like my buddy has 2 10’s and 2 6inch subs and it sounds great since they are in different area’s.and not int he same box like i want to put to 6 inch subs ,but i dont want to loose money just incase it sounds like shit …like i allready have the area for the speakers right there so i dont need them .So should i just go with the 6 inch subs ?

i have intentions on having a monitor or 2 onto the bottom of the hatch and making a little fiberglass inclouser for it or them and was thinking of tweeters and speakers as well .i dunno play it by ear i guess haha i allso have a spare PS2 i don,t play i was going to work into the car as well …

like the stuff you see the sub and speakers will not be used and i,m buying new that stuff is just junk MTX and bluapunkt psx652’s,most likely Alpine all around .

so yeah i’m poen to any suggestions you guys might have ,I’m not much of an audio guy ,i just like makeing the boxes and seeing what i can come up with basic hand tools

thanks guys

i like what you got going there, now you just need a kick ass sub.

ok dumb question…you have checked fitment and stuff on the speaker with the hatch closed…

You can use 6” subs it can leave an empty space in your range but will still sound ok. My advice I gave you was for a sound quality competition style set-up, which will provide coverage of all of the audible frequencies. You can always make separate pods of the 6” and attach them to the 12” box and fiberglass it all together.

I once took 6” round PVC pipe and made to cylinder pods to go into a box for a show car and then wrapped the top of them with fiberglass to make it a smooth structure. I only had to cut the pipes about 5” long to get the cubic footage I needed. .45 per speaker. Using this idea, you could keep you current rings and just attached PVC pipe to the backside to make the pods.

Im not to much of an audio guy either, but i have built a number of boxes in my days. I dont know if im 100% correct on this, correct me if im wrong. But you are usuing plywood to build it. And from my knoledge sound follows the lines of the wood grain. Were im getting with this is. Im assuming you would want to use Hard board, or particle board for the best sound. Although dont get me wrong its still going to sound good, If you are using the plywood, i would get fiberglass and go around the inside edges, or possibly use a type of apoxy or glue. That might make the sounds so it dosent follow the grain so much. But then again do wat you want, cause for all i know im talking out me ass. lol…

yes i agree i have used fiber glass resin inside on boxes to help seal them. and try to use mdf to build your box it resonates different. don’t use liquid nails it will explode under presser.

billabongrob
yes it clears with alot of room for when i do the hatch box …i didn’t know a few things well only figured about the speakers and now i’m a moron haha ,sorry the window is dirty but its cloesed Rob haha WTF

damn why didnt i think of PVC …shit oh well i ended up makeing little boxes out of MDF for them .pretty much just scored the mdf took a bit out on an angle so it would stay together ,I’m sure you have done that. you know cut to the other side but not all the way through ,then i just bent it around the circle ,glued it brad nailed it and fiberglassed it …

ive allso added another layer to the box in MDF and not the plywood ,so its doubled .sounds better ive noticed from boxes ive made in the past …

i havent noticed is sounding different or leaking from plywood alone though … i dunno haha learn something new everyday …

so anyways ,now that ive made the little boxes i have to mount them different ,because they are not light . so i’m thinking mounting them from the bottom and then tie into the 12 inch ring … or the base for it …

why not just run a single 12" or run the (2) 6" subs? it would be better for the amplifier to power them that way. OR if i may suggest go with a single 15" sub. btw, what kind of amplifier are you using…because the two go hand in hand (sub + amp) so it’s best to match them up.

yea ur sub and amps do go hand and hand because of your “ohm’s” level. I’m actually going to mobile dynamics so i work with car audio all day:corn:

nope i’m running the single 12 and the two 6 inch subs. i’m not budgeing on it either ,this is what i want and i’m not going to change for anyone .you might have noticed i do things my way and say fuck what people say .So suggesting other stuff is pretty much just a waste of time .
i’m going to be running alpine stuff .

sorry if i sound like i dick ,i don’t mean too …

update when i do some more

you are correct that speakers and amps need to be properly matched. but i have many times ran a 12 or 10 on one half of an amp and sub-mid’s on the other half. you just have a really good crossover.

Yes i have made boxes by scoring the mdf. we figured out the pvc trick a while back and is much fast and perfect everytime.also the reason your boxes sound better when you double up the wood is because the box can’t flex. your goal when building a speaker box is to make it as solid as you can because of the way the sound waves and compression of speaker.
