Originally posted by E_Racer i read up on how to take out hte intermediate shaft, you gotta drain the tranyn fluid then take the 3 bolts out and then still gotta somehow get the intermediate shaft from the tranny. Which i think will be stuck on tight too…i dont want to mess around with anything that dont need to be touched, dont wanna dig myself a bigger ditch. man… even the alternator bolts are on really tight to. anyone from the 909 Riverside area down to help me? i would really appreciate it.
Just pull out the shaft and shove a towel in the hole so the fluid doesn’t leak out.
whooo hooo! thanx a ton lostdeception. i took out the whole piece of shiet now i can have room to take out the alternator…hopefully taking out the alternator isnt gonna create more problem. THANX ALOT LOSTDECEPTION one probelm outt athe way! woot woot

ok… how the hell do u remove the adjusting nut on the alternator? all my tools wont fit inside that small space to loosen the nut. i tried everything and it wont fit . could anyone tell me what they used?
Originally posted by E_Racer man i dont have 12mm wrench… all i have is socket wrenches.and big wrenches… damnit im stuck then… all the stores are closed too…
Yup, you need to have wrenches…it’s important when doing Hondas
ok. ive got everything in place and started the car. good stuff it works fine. now im in the process of putting everything back into place. but now i have a problem again. When i was trying to pry the driveshaft from the intermediate shaft i got it out bout 1/4 of an inch but couldnt get no more. so idecided to take the whole axel out.
But now i cant push back the part that i pryed out.
Circled in Red is what im talkinga about
how can i push it back in? its like stuck. is it safe to drive around like that? any feedback would be great.
so your telling me that i didnt break it or anything right? cuz i was scared i broke sumthing and that wasnt the right spot to pry. so i have to get it back in or there will be a vibration? ok ill try to get it back toghter. man it was a biatch trying to pry it and its a biatch to push it back in. thanx though
Sometimes it seizes do to age. But as long as it’s still on there, it’ll be ok. It should have came out though. Better it’s stuck in then stuck out. If you get it in and duns alright, start searching bonyeyards for a spare halfshaft to be on the safe side. It might be at the time where it needs to be replaced anyway. Sometimes the bearing in it goes bad, and it cannot be relaced. But you should be fine.
I had this exact problem last summer… I could not separate the axle from the intermediate shaft even with 2 guys using sledge hammers. It would move 1/8-1/4" like yours but did not get stuck in that position - you should try to press it back or you might have trouble installing it. Now, when you reinstall it with the intermediate shaft attached (have a helper hold the other end) the cv boot may not slip thru the lower strut assembly so you may have to remove or slip back the boot. Be very careful not to pull apart the cv joint or you will have to take it apart to reassemble. If the boot is more than 2 years old I would change it now (make sure you remove all the old grease 1st)
yea, its really a biatch, but it was a learning experince. im still trying to push it back toghter. man it was insane trying to pry it apart. i dont kno how people do it so i jus took off the whole assembly from the tranny. i tried using hammers and what nots to try to push it back togther. but no luck yet. i dunno what to do i dont want to put it back in like that.
ay i feel you cuz i had to take out the daym alternator too. but my axle cam off hella easy. my suggestion would be take off the boots and get two vice clamps and clamp them on the end of the flat part of the axle where the boot was covering and the edge of the intermediate shaft mount part and slowly turn the vice grips evenly so it wont go in crooked or sumthin. but good luck though, it took me two days to get the alternator out and a new one in.
To push the shaft back: Remove the large cv boot clamp and pull the inner cv joint apart. There are 3 large bearings that will slip out of the tri-pot, try to remember which slot they came from. Put the intermediate shaft in a LARGE vice with the pot facing upwards. Place a thick piece of wood on the pot and pound it with a sledge hammer. Remember you may have to slip the outer cv boot partly off to fit the whole assembly thru the strut.
PS: It is ok to reuse the cv boot clamp if it is in good shape.
