I just put all my turbo stuff on including converting my 90’ teg to obd1, via a chip p28 and using a obd2 distributer. (tuner block o2 sensor) I tryed to start it and it just cranks. I put on my obd0 distributer and ecu and the same thing happens. I’m getting fuel, and I pulled a plug and held it to metal and it sparked but it was kinda weak. I’m stumped, please help me.
I would say post this in the forced induction forum. This forum is for “Stock-Engine-Bay Components” not forced induction (aka turbo).
ya I know, but I don’t think it’s turbo related, exept for maybe my 450’s are putting in to much fuel.
If not the FI forum then definitely the “High-Tech, Hybrids & Aftermarket Engine Performance” forum.
Or you can take my advise with a grain of salt. I am just trying to get you into the correct forum for the type of problem your having. (your not having a problem with something stock on your car, your having a problem after you installed a bunch of aftermarket stuff on your car)
well ok, if the mods want to move my post let’em. Right now I’m fine were it is, if you have any idea’s why my car won’t start please help.
Are you sure the firing order is right? A quick way to check while all the spark plugs are in is to just switch the wires around. it should be 1342. When I changed distributors I somehow ended up getting everything 2 cyl’s off.
I’m getting spark, and fuel. I just checked my compression and it’s 0 across the bored. I pulled the car into the shop yesterday and it was fine. Maybe my comp. gauge is broke or I may have washed out the rings. But the second I turned the car over it sounded diffrent like no comp. so I couldn’t have washed the rings out with no fuel. I have no idea whats going on.
I still think you will have better luck* REPOSTING the question in another forum. But then again, NOT reposting it to another forum has really worked out for you hasn’t it.
But because I can’t be mean…
I assume that the last post indicates you lost compression for awhile, and now its back.
If you have spark and fuel, then you need to look at timing. You need to look at firing order. Do that, and see what happens.
luck* = more responses, quicker responses, better responses, more knowledge from people that do this sort of thing.
I still don’t have compression. It never came back. I’ve posted this same damn q on 4 diffrent forums not including this one. I HAVE spark and I HAVE fuel, but I DON’T HAVE compression. If I can’t figure this out by tommarow then I’m ripping the bitch apart, and re-ringing it.
Are the cams lined up right? That’s the only other way that air would get out of the cylinder.
I would think that if his engine had no compression in any cylinder and it was a cam problem, he would now have bent valves. There is not a lot of tolerance to our engines when it comes to valve clearance. Hopefully its the rings, if its the valves not being timed correctly, your looking at possible block machining piston replacement, definite valve replacement, and head work depending on what hit what, and if any valve broke off. Good Luck.
compression
I don’t see how you could wash the rings in all 4 cylinders .
The first thing I would do is pull the valve cover and see if the cams are turning and then check to see what the valve clearance is. ( is will tell you if you have a bent a valve or two) then see if the cams are in time.

Even if you have washed ring you can get compression by putting a little oil in each cylinder.
+1 to what RX3 says.
I got the car running and boosted. Everything is fine, now there just a little oil comming from the oil feed. Sorry if I came off like an ass, but i was freaking out. pics soon.
Well, fill us in, what was the problem?
