Help Moding Accord Lip

I’m on spring break so what better things to do than get my projects finished on the car. Yes I know theres snow on the ground and my rims are on…it was in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s all week so I put them on and it went from 50 to snowing over night…not happy.

But anyway I’m in the middle of modding my front lip. I haven’t seen anyone put this lip on so I figured I would give it a shot. But my question is where should I get a heat gun for and how much are they usually about? I’ve checked online at autozone, lowe’s and a few others but they don’t say they have them. The hair drier that I was using didn’t work to well, kept over heating and shutting off, and wasn’t heating the lip up enough.

It looks like it’s going to end up being 1/4" longer on the sides but I’m hoping to find the ww rs kit to replace it with later on.

Here’s the work so far!

Can’t wait to see it painted along with the Ek Sides.

thats gona look hot:rockon:

better than the Type r style lip

Thanks, I was a bit scared about how it would look but i’m pretty happy with it now, looks more aggressive than the TypeR style

I searched around google and found a construction site that said there’s a wagner heatgun for $30 that works good at lowe’s. So i guess this thread is worthless, it can be deleted, if not i’ll post up the finished look here so it’s not.

for what accord year is that lip? and what the name of the lip?

You can try a lighter…yes a lighter. it’s going to take time, but it works

Thats a ctr lip.

That’s an 94-95 Accord Type-R replica lip.

I used to have the Accord Mugen rep one.

Look here for more stuff. http://hmotorsports.com/

And you can almost get a heat gun from any big department store.
(Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, ACE hardware, Sears, etc.)
And yeah, they usually run around $20-30 bucks.

Stokeless got it, 94 Accord lip Civic TypeR Style. I’m giving up on modifying it till the weekend. It’s not a lip to do by yourself. From the looks of it i’m going to have to make some custom brackets to hold it better on the sides. The way this lip is designed theres no place to mount on the side of the bumper without having a huge gap.

It looks like you can get the end to screw in right on the edge corner like the Type-R lip does.
If not, make a little bracket to screw into. It should fit better after you mold it a little also.
It’d also be easier if you had someone to help hold it while you mold it.
I know both of the sides kinda come out a little wide, but it should be a nice fit after it’s all done with.

I regret selling my Mugen rep one. Hopefully they’ll make more Spoon rep ones, and for cheaper also.

92BlueTeg - any updates on the lip being complete? Please show pics if you are done putting it on… we want to see what the finish product looks like!!! :whisper:

Haven’t finished it yet…it’s been too cold or raining over here in RI during the weekends. That and my parents were trying to buy a house so everythings been out of wack…even though it turned out to be a waste.

Heres a pic of it rigged up so i can drive it without the sides sticking out…I got a lot of shit over at honda-tech because they said it sticks out too much on the sides after I told them the sides are ghetto rigged with bungy chords till I get the time and weathers correct…people over there never seem to listen:roll: But i guess driving around with it rigged finally made my dad decided to take sometime to help me out with molding it.

But anyway if it’s nice out this weekend i’ll start making a bracket to finish it off. I’m thinking on ordering the mugen sides for the 94 accord to put on also.

The ek sides looked way to small compaired to the front lip. I’m also going to get a quote on painting it.

i like the concept, i cant wait til its completed

Hey thanks for the updated pix. Exactly what I wanted to see… it actually looks pretty good.

I don’t think you should get the mugen sides… try going with the wings west sides cuz it tends to flow more with the DA’s lines plus it’s about the same size as the front lip. The lil hole in the mugen sides turns me off…

Hope you have time to finish it this weekend… good luck.

One more thing… did you have to end up cutting the ends of the lip to match up with the DA’s front?

naw the ek skirts would make those look:shock:

Nah the ek skirts and a lil bit small to flow with the front lip. Ah fuck it… who cares… just finish the goddamn car so I can drool over it!

Yea i had to cut about an inch on the ends. I want to go with the wings west sides but i cant find them. I’ve found the vis technor knockoffs but they want a rediculus price for fiberglass knockoffs. I just figured the accord mugens would be something different. If anyone knows where I can get a pair at a decent price then let me know

And if i showed you pics of the ek sides on the car with the lip you would understand why i’m not doing it. Theres a good two inches of difference, you wouldn’t even know that I put the sides on.

I got those sides on my car. I had that front lip also, but I sold it.
Since you got a 2dr, get the Mugen sides from a 92-95 Civic EG Hatch. I ordered my stuff from that link I posted above earlier.

when i did my 90-93 accord lip, i had to use a heat gun (lowe’s, $30) to mold the bends around the side of the bumper.

i cut up a little of the tabs on the front just to make it sit a little flusher. it’s nothing perfect, but for free i can’t complain.

the lip was a little long, so me and a friend cut off some of the end, took the lip off, then bent it around a 2x4 as if it was that side when purchased…

just take your time on it, maybe try a heat gun and a small paint roller to press it against the bumper.

mine sat a little low on the ends, so we pulled it up to get 2 good screws in it. we thought about doing just 1 and making it straight across, but once it hits 1 thing im sure it would be a gonner. if any you need any help lmk.

looks good. I just got throught finishing mine while the weather was somewhat decent and my father could help. Came out really nice on the edges. I took pictures but my parents are using there computer and the memory stick isn’t formatted to my laptop. It’s not perfect…at least yet but the sides came out pretty nice. I’m going to put a rubber grommet to fill in any space that there might be between the lip and bumper to clean it up some more. I’ll post the pics up really soon.

Now on to search for wingswest rs or Vis TechnoR Sides. I realized the accord mugens indented, which wouldn’t look right with the style of lip. Anyone know where I can get a pair at a decent price??

i did the ek side skirts…did a write up in the thread, but here’s a quick snap at night, obviously its gross and raining and when it gets nice i’ll have more pictures but you get the point here… i think they are the cleanest skirts you can get, other than the mugens… but their a bit pricy…

here are a few other pictures of the ek skirts, sorry if i jacked anyone’s pictures…
