any of you guys have the same problem with your turbo setup…my car runs fine and doesn’t smoke during normal driving…but i start boosting the car would blow white smoke…the intercooler piping would have oil in it also…does this have anything to do with the pcv?? do i have to run an oil catch can to prevent this?? i was thinking about using two pcv valve so i’ll have less blowby…help anyone…thanks
Sounds like your putting coolant into the combustion chamber under pressure
i think oil is black smoke… i agree with the coolant burning… cylinder head is probably lifting under boost
yes, you need to run a catch can of some sort. sounds like you have multiple issues. the white smoke, is coolant. change headgasket, and get some arp’s. the oil in the charge pipes means your turbo seals are most likely shot, or you’re not using an oil restrictor, and you blew them out.
hth…
I had the same problem my first time boosting, turbo seals were the problem, changed turbo and put in restictor and I was fine. I ALLWAYS use a restrictor now.
turbo seals,buddy
Yup, turbo seals! Oil passing by the seals in the turbo will produce white smoke.
where can i get a oil restrictor???
Anywhere on the net… Just type “turbo oil restrictor” on google and i’m sure you will find a place to buy!
yeah common problem get a feedline with an oil restrictor before it damages the seal permanently
stealthmodeperfomance.com has the best prices and quality IMO where i got mine
just purchase an oil restrictor off from ebay…my new turbo is coming in next week…can’t wait to get it running…thanks guys

didn’t realize how small the oil restrictor is…i just ran a regular fitting problema bout three times the size of the oil restrictor which is.065"…
WTF ammit…got an oil restrictor installed onto the turbo and i’m still having oil passing by…WTF oil pressure is reading about 65psi when it’s started up…first time i started it up for about 5 min and was fine…woke up the next day and started it up and that shit just started smoking…i don’t know what else to do or what i’m doing wrong…anything else i can check on or do…info please…thankssss

Is this a new turbo or an old one that was already smoking?
Is your return line big enough? No kinks in it? In the upper part of the oil pan?
The turbo has blown seals, A restictor can’t stop it from smoking when the seals are already bad. A restictor will save a NEW turbo from ruining seals, it can’t fix your already ruined seals.
He put a new turbo on, or so i comprehended. What brand turbo did you buy? please tell me its not an Ebay or SSAC turbo.
My turbo da was running good and not smoking after the oil restrictor…But unfortuntely i think i blew the rings on one of the cylinder…Now the motor is smoking from the valve cover…so the motor is coming out and a newly rebuilt one is going to be in there…thanks guys

to bad i didn’t see this earlier. i would have suggested a compression check. which would have shown ur bad ringlands/broken ringlands. stock pistons can’t hold up forever. ur oil restrictor will help ur turbo seals from blowing and trust me if ur turbo seals where blown u would know right away. good luck and keep the boost down
