so i cant get my hood to close right…it leave a huge gap out front…i tried adjusting the latch/hood and nothing then i changed my radiator cause it was hiitting the radiator…too tall…now same problem…any ideas? hood is off a 92 and my car is a 92 GS-R
trying to get everything fitted before paint!
you may just need to adjust the hood latch. 3bolts, takes like 15-30 minutes to get it perfect, if your as anal as me.
x2^^^^ i had to drill a lil more space on mine for it to close and i still kinda have to slam the hood car was never hit that i know of either
When you changed the radiator, did you made sure the rubber legs on the radiator were seated properly into the holes on the bottom?
does the latch fully catch onto the hood? You might want to change the latch or compare the hood latch with your old one to make sure its not bent.
I had a problem like this once I had take the two top bolts for the hood latch out an put a washer behind the two to get them to push the latch out a little then it work fine might want to try it
going to try this thanks
New latch same problem?!!
Is your radiator sitting high? are your little rubber stops all the way down? Does the release handle return to its original position? Do you have an aftermarket intake that gets in the way? Did you align it properly? Do you have an aftermarket radiator cap?
maybe the prop is getting inthe way.
post a pic of your engine bay so we can get a better look.

i thought it was this radiator so i changed it to a shorter one and same problem
Is the hood “latching” properly?
Do you need to pull hood release to release hood or can you just move “safety” latch to open hood? 94
ThE hood latches but i push down on it and it makes a clicking noise like its not fully latched but it is… An thr hood release works to open the hood when shut
can you raise the car up and look under the radiator support for any dents or bent metal.
My buddy tried to raise his car without knowing what area of the subframe he can lift the car up with a jack and ended up raising/bending the rad support, his hood stayed open kinda like yours until he took everything out to work it back down with a hammer.
I dont know if its the camera or just the angle of the pic but the rad support does look kinda bent up above the passanger side fog.
Your radiator still looks kinda high, its been a while since im rocking the half civic rad now but the original is supposed to sit flush with the support.
can anyone confirm or correct me…
To be clear, to open hood you must first pull the hood release and then move the “safety” latch to open the hood, or can you open it by just moving the safety latch?
If you must pull the hood release, then the latch is sitting up too high for some reason, I would check what da6xsi06 mentions, as he suggests, it does look like the rad support is bent up on pass. side. 94
Thats a pic with thE old radiator… Here one with the new one… Sits flush so dont think its the radiAtor…and i have to pull the hood release to get to the saftey latch so it does close just not all the way… Im going to lift the car up today and check the rad. Support
OK, to confirm it is the latch hight, like I think it is, remove the latch and see if hood will close flush.
I still agree that it looks like the rad support, the pass. side looks all bent up, the inside head light mounting bracket looks bent and stretched to make it fit, the center one does not even line up and the gap between head light housing is diff. from the drivers side. 94
upper rad support apears to be slightly bent on the pass side. so I would say that the rad support being bent is a safe bet.
I say you unbolt the top rad brackets and lean the rad back out of the way, then gentally stand on the top rad support see if you can bend it down a bit. just a last resort i guess.
best way would be to unbolt everything on the latch and rad support and push down to manually get it to where yo want it.
You can also unbolt the bolts on the latch and cut the holes into slots, that way you can move and bolt the latch lower with nuts and bolts.
thanks…an yea i can see that it most likely is my RAD. support…thanks ill try and get it all fixed this weekend
