I’m trying to prop my hood like in the pix shown. Just to have more room to work on my engine, mainly near the firewall. My hood will not go up like that. It only stops in the slant position. Is there a way of making the hood go back further without removing the entire hood? Thanks.
Pretty sure they just remove the rubber guards/stoppers and let the hood rest on the windshield.
I’ve cracked a windshield doing this, though…(At the junkyard)
Look in the teg tips section. Its easy.
my windshield cracked with this. i dont recomend it
:iagree: all it takes is either a gust of wind to send ur hood flailing shut… or onto someone’s head… or if its not careful placed upright the windshield can/could crack.
ditto here…
i learned my lesson, and never propped my hood that high ever again.
i did it to make it look alot cleaner when i had my hood popped at meets & stuff. soooooo 2005 stuff
i ended up making the hood prop on DC & EG/EK setups work for my DA. the short little rod on the upper right corner (if facing the engine bay from the front)
and modified the CF hood, made the correct notches to hold the hood correctly.
so far so good
pics…
why dont you just remove your hood when working on your engine if its that serious cant get anymore room then that lol.
Cuz it’s a hassle! That’s like 2 extra more screws you’ll have to undo
and it’s hard (but not impossible) if you’re working on the car alone.

i did the samethang, so far so good
I took my hood off alone. Thought it would be hard but its incredibly easy.
Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve finished on working in the engine bay. I just left the hood as is.
But in the future if I do want the hood removed, Will I have any problems with alignment issues when installing the hood back? Thanks again
yes

Yes you will have alignment issues. But I learned a trick while watching a Saturday morning hot rod show. Get four small drill bits (I have two different sets that have two 1/16" bits each) and drill right by each mounting bolt hole on the hinges, through those and into the hood. Then when you go to put to your hood back on stick the the drill bits in, and your hood hood will be back to the same place!
u could do it the lazy way lke me n forget to latch ur hood down fully n put on hood pins n watch the hood fly up n crack teh two ends off the bumper n rubber moldin lol…fuckin FAIL
were you have the bolts to hold the hood there are these little spacer type deals it stops the hood from opening to far …take those off and bam done ill see if i can get a pic of my buddys car to show ya exactly what it is
If you gotta be all bomb-diggity @ a meet or photo shoot; then take the hood off & put it on your roof. Or behind the car.

This is why I’m going grey w/ my paint! No offense to Captiva, but it’s too BAM! for my tastes. I just can’t see myself re-painting this color. I dunno, whatever.

yeah my hood was like that and thanks to that gust of wind i had a cracked windsheild and lost some teeth
