i have a 92 rs, i will be putting arias 9:5:1 pistons in, apr head bolts, jg intake. hondata 3b/boost, and all the other reguler upgrades, what i want to know is how much boost can i safly run with this, do i need new conecting rods? i want to beable to do 8-10 psi for daily and up to 15 for race…
im not a rocket scientist but isnt it cheaper to do the rods now, then to build your motor, drop it in and risk blowing it, then pulling it back out, disassembling it, puttin new rods and then doing it all over. i dunno call me crazy. wait and save. do it right the first time homie:up:
guys im building the engine for a friend… hes has only so much money and he wants the engine build buy the end of christmas, we bugetd his saving till then… he is payin for it so i will build it… i strongly advised him to wait but he wants to go ahead and do it… just tell if u think it will handle 10psi dail and 15 for race…
stock rods are not strong, you’re playing with fire by not putting in aftermarket rods. perhaps you need to tell you friend to be patient and do this right…
If money’s really short, why not just ditch something like the intake manifold and use the money to get some rods, since you can put the IM on later without pulling the engine apart? Seems to me that would make more sense than having to pull the engine apart twice. I’m no expert, but from all the reading I’ve done, it always seems like the honda rods are the weak link in everything.

lsvtec != boost… ls/vtec you’re talking about low hp engines. boost is NOT friendly to stock integra motor parts! Tell him to wait a month and BUY RODS.

i believe the point he’s trying to make is that the majority of people who decide upon lsv usually do a barebones conversion…which yeilds 175 whp with a lot of luck. sure, a fully built lsv will yeild some damned impressive numbers…but BOV’s sound so damn sexy…
