how much mileage when your engine dies?

i know it isnt a b series, but my 89 civic lx with a d15 had 266k before we donated it. It was still running then. I expect the same out of the 'teg

i learned stick in the civic and stalled it 7 times in one sitting (sticky gas pedal made it nearly impossible for a newbie to modulate the gas). The oil light does not necessarily indicate low oil, it indicates low oil pressure. They’re different.

man haha

my 88 prelude back in the day had 522k miles and still ran ahha no oil burning either.

what a gangster

That shit has a b20 in it, but the gay one. Got the same thing in my driveway right now. Beastly cars!

yup, actually, mine was carburated.

2.0S

hah sohc dual carb, even more “beastly”

it got me around tho.

I’ve got 187,672ish on my b18 engine and it just burns a little bit of oil.

kinda gets tempermental in the winter though.

308 runs well. just burns oil

Yep the burning oils are usually our valve stem seals in the head I think thats what they are called nor our piston rings not sealing well but usually if u want to figure out which is which, then try to at least do a compression test to see if u have good Compression or maybe a leak down test to see if its a piston ring issue.

If its all good chances are your valve seals/stem is crack or worned down and this is where we usually get burning oils.

The seals between the valves etc

At least this is what i get after like 800-1200 miles eating at least 1 qt depending on driving habits. I have good compression and no leak under car so i figure its burning within the head and leaking into the piston area. Well Good luck guys!

damn!!! i guess my DA is still a baby, 75,XXX not a drop of oil burns!!!

No thats right out of the womb!

  1. stalling the engine once in a while, ie: letting the gf learn stick on your teg[QUOTE]

Wow I can’t stand sexist people  I can drive stick better than any of my male friends. :manual:

My DA is at 190k and running like a champ…no leaks or smoking ANYTHING. It could use a new clutch, the third one as far as I know. Some guy on here had a one a while ago with 365k on the original motor…I almost bought it. Then there’s my buddy’s 240sx that has blown the piston rings three times and is at 140k…Honda FTW :giggle:

Mine has 264K and burns about 1/2 quart every 3 weeks. It doesn’t smoke but I do get some black stuff on my driveway coming out from the exhuast. Any idea what that could be.

Exactly as i mention above about burning oils, Black stuff is carbon. I usually see this only after I SEAFOAM IT hehe… Suppose it cleans it out.,

250k and i think the oil pump went bad but replaced the motor anyway. She was running strong and just died.

well my compression was good…when i checked it a while ago…i think whats the avergae compression for each cylinder?

wow, nice old thread revival.

currently 182k miles, burns nothing and leaks nothing unless you count the minor oil pan gasket leak.
honestly, as good as i take care of vehicles im pretty rough on them, lots of short drives.

paid 250 for my 91 ford escort lx and it lasted like 5 years with 2 minor repairs after i drove it from wisconsin to florida. (flex pipe & worn out ignition)
i was hoping for another run like that with this integra but its not looking so good.

I am at 225,000 kilometers, doesn’t burn oil and rungs great :):hi5:

Update: I am currently at 338,021 right now. Its burns oil and burns even more oil with crower stage 2 cams install LOL. I took them out for 2 weeks and my car is so dam weak due to cylinder 2 and 3 burns oil low compression. It still drives well though for such high mileage car. With the cams and bolt on with jdm s1 b16 tranny its hanging with gsr slightly lol with 338k miles. last time i posted on first page has 321k. Anyway it has Started to leak oil like a penny size drop but only once in a long while.

I have again installed the stage 2 cams and the cam gears and ran the chipped ecu again LOL. I want it to break down if it does cant wait to swap already with a fresh motor waiting. I redline at 7500, but i never take it up there due to old motor and parts. On new motor i have the rods shot peened and crank knife edged and ARP bolts. So i should be cool then. Rebuilt motor has 0 mileage and ready to put in and in about a yr i will boost it to 6-8psi max dd.

I’m at 202k miles and burning/leaking 1qt every 1500 miles or so, oil pan gasket, I’m putting synthetic in this time so we’ll see what she does after that. Never ran compression or any other diagnostics, I just got it 3 months ago at 188k for $1300. and just had to change the water pump. runs strong as far as I know, feels like vtec if I didn’t know better. B18. hoping for 250-300k out of her.

If you go Synthetic just remember you might have more leaks. Stick with 10 40w if so.
