I just sold my 17’s and bought a set of Rota grids on 205/45/16’s. Im currently running an Eibach pro kit but I do have a set of Neuspeed Race. Im reluctant to put these on though because the roads are so shitty where im from.
I want to go with H&R sports but I cant find any good pics of the wheel gap with 16’s.
If any one can post pics of this setup or can tell me how much wheel gap they have that would be much appreciated!
Do you think 205/40/17 and 205/45/16 sit at about the same height?
I was hoping my 16’s would drop it just a little but it doesnt really look any different. My teg was sittin pretty with my stock 14’s for a couple of weeks.
It doesnt seem like the .2" more of a drop is worth the stiff ass spring rates that I dont really want because I drive alot and comfort is very important.
Have a lookie here: http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91688
My post is ~3 down or so. There’s a few pics of the gap on 16" rotas, 205/45 ES100, and on prokits. (How it should have come stock… ;)) :manual:
nice! i’m also gonna get 16’s and drop it about 2", although not sure if i can get 16’s this summer but we will see. I’m planning on going with tokico blues and H&R springs all around with an ingalls camber kit. Maybe a strut bar if i can find a cheap one for tegs with abs.
I hate to be a pain in the ass, but it doesn’t matter what size tires (14-17) you have. If the pictures you look at have the proper plus size wheels and tires they will all stand at the same height. All the tires will have about the same circumferance. Therefore the gap will be the same.
There will be the visual effect created with a smaller aspect tire. IE - going from a stock 60 series to 45 series. My car has Eibach 1.4" drop and there is not much gap, 2 fingers maybe.
I disagree, the past two years I was running 17’s in the summer months and would put on my stock 14’s for the winter. There was less wheel gap along with the car stance being a little lower with my 14’s. Even when I would not look at the wheels and just focus on the front end I could clearly see my car was sitting lower.
Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you can’t argue with numbers. Let me break it down for you:
Stock - Michelin XGT 195/60/14 (23.1" diameter) Plus 2 - Pirelli P7000 SS 205/45/16 (23.3" diameter) I have these. Plus 3 - Yokohama AVS ES100 205/40/17 (23.5" diameter) Popular choice but you didn’t mention what 17s you have.
Now if you consider that only half of the size difference can be seen in wheel gap. So… if you can see less than 1/2" difference, you must have calibrated vision. I got’a get me sum of dat. It is a visual effect.
With the amount of time I spend staring at my teg I may have developed calibrated vision. :inlove:
Im going to measure from the ground to my front lip with my 16’s and this winter with my 14’s (if i dont store it) and see what the difference really is.
Most of the data there is right on. Once in a while you find a mistake. Keep in mind, diameter measurements are taken on new rubber. I think the service limit of a tire is 2/32 and they start at 10/32. So a fully worn tire should be about 16/32 (around 1/2" I think) less diameter, and only about 1/4" wheel gap difference than when it was new.
Second one is more recent with the pics taken from the digital camera. Acura Integra 97’ GSR 15x6 (some all seasons???) 195/55/15. These are the winter rubber.
I assure you, the ground to fender ridge and fender to tire measurements are mostly the same. Have to account +/- 1/4" for overall tread wear between the sets. :burnout:
It would have been better if I could get both from the digital, but I am usually trying to get done, and have not cleaned up. The greasy nasty hands are not allowed on the camera.
wow, the gap difference between a 1.4" and 1.8" look quite significant. I am looking for a 1-2 finger gap(it must be more than 1 finger but no bigger than 2). The 1.4 on those Eibachs seem a little to high for me still. So should I go for h&r sport rather than race? I am also getting a lip kit on soon with my 17"s if that helps.
