all a basemap is intended to do is make your car mobile so you can drive it to get tuned, it is not meant to be driven hard at all.

if you waited along time to turbo it you can wait a week or so to get it tuned by someone if not you risk blowing the motor, basemaps is an idea of what your car will run. dont be dumb and drive it, dont get me wrong you could drive it its your car do as you like, my .02
Call me stupid, but honestly…on my basemap…i ran the piss out of my car. I made sure that there was no detonation and never really boosted hardcore in 4th and 5th gears. I was also on 10psi. I really dont know what everyone freaks out about. Even after i sold all of my turbo parts i still have the same compression numbers and the motor still runs strong n/a. Pretty much, i’d say yes…you can drive on a basemap…just make sure that you pay attention to what your motor is doing, even though its not easy to do with your ears…lol. Best thing you could do is get it on a wideband.

You honestly think that running hard or WOT on a basemap isn’t bad? Definetly not ideal versus tuning the motor.

Good job captian obvious! No shit its going to be hard on the motor, ITS NOT A TUNE. Never once did i say that it was good for the motor. I don’t reccomend running on a basemap. I only used a basemap because there isnt a tuner within probably 300miles of me and i have NO money. If someone has the tuner and the cash…most definetly get it tuned. What i’m saying is that I DID run on a basemap and beat the FUCK out of my motor…and well what do you know?..still runs…and it still runs GOOD.

Ladies and gentlemen! “a2steg” shows us the proper way of going about improperness and admits it! 
As long as you agree that running hard on an engine with only a basemap is detrimental. There are people that put alot of money into a motor and cannot run the risk of ruining the engine going WOT on an untuned motor.

Your 100% right…tuning is the only way to be reliable. I guess that my post is more less saying that you can risk it…sometimes it may come out okay…but if you have the money/sources get it tuned.
a basemap is only as good as the tuner or person building the basemap
if its a previously tuned map that has almost exactly the same setup as yours, it may only need to be cleaned up
but every car is a little diffrent, an exahust leak will cause spool up times to be diffrent. the healthiness of the motor will affect it, the cams in the car will affect it, the turbo will, the manifold will.
This is why basemaps are basemaps.
I can give a guy uberdata or hondata or aem ems, and have him click a few buttons, but he may not know what the fuck he’s lookin at.
so he may not notice at column 11 psi he has a glitch of 29 degrees timing . and not enough fuel … that = KABOOM. but hey . its a bsemap right ? how difficult can it be ?
you could also run rich as hell and ruin your rings by washing out the walls.
its up to you if you wanna drive on it, i dont recommend it.
