Is there a guide on how to take off the fuse box because a total newbie at this.
I can get the plastic housing off the fuse box but I don’t know how to get through all the wires and I see a very recessed bolt on the bottom of the fuse box but I don’t know how I would even get that out. Thank you.

Basically you need to get a long extension to get that bolt on the bottom and there is one at the top. Unplug a bunch of connectors, I can’t remember all of the colors. That is all.
I’ve read this back in 05 and I just replaced it with a junkyard one. Worked great for 5 years. Now my intermittent wipers aren’t working again. How much are these things at the dealer? Do you think the capacitors on the new ones are upgraded? If I get a new one, I don’t have to worry about it for 17 more years. Well thats how long the original one lasted.

www.oemacuraparts.com has it listed for $180.82 + shipping.
ouch. Thought it would be at least 50 to 80 dollars or something. Or I might be thinking the MFR is 50 bucks. Oh well, I might just have to fix it.
Ok i went to fry’s and radio shack but I only could find 100uh 25v 105c or 100uh 50v 105c capacitors in stock…i bought both since they were only a dollar something, which one should i use? or neither and just order the 35v one online?
and is anyone still repairing and/or exchanging them? my soldering skills are suspect from past experience…
Ok i replaced it with the 25 v but no difference…rear defroster doesnt work, door triggers dont work(so of course the dome light doesnt react to the door), normally does the random beeping like the door or seat belt is undone,
no new problems, head lights etc work
I did the fix a couple of years ago, but the ICU printed board was damaged. I still got some things to work but now the defroster is acting up again and no interm wipers. So i ended up buying a new one today from Acura… $190. Hopefully now everything goes back to the way it should be.
yea i can see some damage to the board…i may have to just bite the bullet and buy a new one
Can the ICU have anything to do with the fan coming on when the car is off?
Does the ICU have anything to do with the automatic seatbelts?
I’ve been wanting to fix this for quite some time now. I read the whole 9 pages on here. Just wanted to update this and for people who has the same problem. Yes it worked!! Soldered the new 100mf 35v 105c cap on there and the smaller 33mf 16v 105c as well. My intermittent wipers work now. Yeahh. Total costs- about 20 bucks. Soldering gun, desoldering tool, solder wire.
For those who replaced those capacitors and successfully made it work back in 2006, post up and update if things are still working well. Thanks to the OP.
My 91 intermittent wipers and rear defogger quit working a few months ago. I haven’t been driving the car much - but am now preparing it for my soon to be 16 year old daughter (I’m fighting myself on that…).
Anyway - replaced the two capacitors with 2 from Fry’s acc’d to the specs in this thread. Rear window defogger now works - but wipers don’t. I checked and checked for a bad trace on the circuit board. But didn’t see anything obvious. Cleaned it up pretty good too. Oh well - it’s more important to have working read defogger then intermittent wipers.
if you want to buy one i have them 25 shipped sold a lot on here let me know greazemunkey73@yahoo.com
I emailed you this morning, please get at me!
So i have some of the similar problems defroster, door chimes, and oil light, but i also have no lisence plate light or power to my windows. COuld this be ICU related?
The first three is most likely ICU. The last two probably not. Check fuses and wiring for those.
Well i just pulled it and yeah its pretty crispy, i dont think ill even be able to fix it. Thanks this is the only place i could find people that are actually helpfull. Ill let you guys know what happens when i get a new one. And i did check all fuses and tested all relays so hopefully my icu was so fried it was the cause of all the problems. Three months later actually getting somewhere haha
I finally got a chance to do this and … NOTHING. No change in my wipers, defogger, chimes. Sigh. What a disappointment. I must’ve done something wrong with the capacitor. This was such a big pain in the ass to change too.
Which is exactly why I keep putting this off. I wish my rear defrost worked…but I have a strange feeling it still wouldn’t. Sucks cause that’s the only thing I have that doesn’t work.
Damn. Sorry to hear that guy. You know my guess is that you must of laid down your soldering iron too long on the board to fry other components? Maybe? Did you make sure that your removed ALL the old solder before installing and adding new solder?
