How to: Sure fire Passenger leak fix.

i just figured out another way to do this, instead of extending the bag across the gap to the firewall, you can probably just attach it to the rim just beyond/below the holes. The reason why i didnt do it was because if there was enough water it could flow over the edge, but i’m not sure that would happen. Doing it this way would probably allow much better ventilation if you wanted to use that feature in the HVAC.

great method  however one day my wipers quit working and i later found out the bag had fallen and got wrapped around the wiper motor…just a thought if ur wipers stop working

ouch! glad it worked at one point.

make sure you get those bags in securely!

ok what if the driver side is also drenched. everytime I slide my foot off the clutch and put it down my other leg gets splashed. also behind both seats on the floor is F@$kin wet too. There’s also water where the spare tire is. PLease help.

  1. no idea about the driver side. might be a gap in the front windshield?

  2. back seats? is it thru the sunroof (clogged draining on the sunroof causes leaks to come down the backside) or coming thru the hatch?

  3. water pooling by Spare tire. Had the same problem and found water dropplets came from the power antenna, and led to the spare tire area where the water pooled there. (well mine was broken and I’m assuming it leaked thru that)

yea the fronts i can only think of leaking from the weatherstripping or the seal around the windshield. I wouldn’t really know

as far as the tire well goes your drain holes might be clogged…there are drain holes right?

been pouring for over an hour straight.

will check in the morning if its wet.

it could also come from the trunk… one week it rained constantly where i live…i was in Florida on vacation at the time and i had come back drove my car and came to a stop and heard a waterfall like sound. i had lots of water come into the rear floor both passenger and driver side.

So is there a reason why the passenger side has a leak?
I mean, I doubt it leaked like that from the factory.

My DA leaks too but when I bought it, I was told they had a new windshield installed and I’m thinking that maybe the place that installed it left a “piece” out or just flat out lost it.

either way, I was hoping someone could tell me if there is an actual fitting that goes there in place of the ziploc and such.

hats off to the creativity though.:salute:

There culprit are the holes where plastic rivets go in order to secure the inner cowl piece that covers the ventilation area. Honda ingeniously placed the holes right over the blower hole, which would allow water to leak in if it rained.

There are rubber seals that go into the holes, followed by the rivet. after a decade these seals become weathered and brittle, and crack. You can purchase new seals from the dealer for a few bucks.

i should also mention i have since removed the bag since it got tangled up with the wiper motor. Now i have a piece of tin foil shaped around the hole. it leaks a tiny tiny bit, no where near close enough to have a sopping wet carpet. Just a few drops.

i just completely siliconed the piss out of the rivets and the complete lower cover hasent leaked since and its been 2 years

Plastic Shield Method

ez12a’s plastic bag method gave me an idea to make a plastic shield.

For the shield I found some plastic serving as DVD self and cut it into a shape that extends over the ridges of the blower vent. I figure if any water drips through the worn out rubber seals it would just be deflected by the shield away from the vent hole. To attach it I just made a hole in the vent ridge and used a speaker screw to affix the shield. Pretty simple fix and the vent can still draw cold air.

interesting idea! just what kind of plastic is this and where do you get it?

Just be careful about the angle of the shield. If it’s tilted back, water may run down the underside and drip down (think slowly pouring water out of a pot), but the way you have it looks good to me.

i had to redo my fix today due to the immense amount of rain today.

Ah I see what you mean. Should be okay though as it runs over the lip of the entire hole’s diameter and is concave down. Unfortunately I can’t post any experimental results since the car’s in storage while I’m away at school, but I’m enthusiastically confident in the idea working haha! One of the shelves of my wire dvd case was sacrificed for the shield :).

Another thing that will probably help is I used some weatherseal from Home Depot to replace all the worn seal around the smaller plastic cowl immediately above the blower hole.

Very good idea Mercer! You must get massive cold air directed into the cabin! Window cowl intake FTMFW!

Honestly, all I did was put silicone in and over those 3 white grommet things and I’ve stopped getting leaks for a year now… Good ideas, but it seems to be so much extra work that doesn’t need to be done lol…

i must of messed up when i siliconed it cause it only helped a little bit haha i’ll have to take it off again and add more silicone great idea i’m just lazy tho a $3 tube of silicone is much easier haha.

Hahaha just doing my best to get blown while I ride! lololol

UPDATE: So I field tested this mod on both of my integras which had the dreaded passenger leak and NO MORE FUCKING WATER IN THE CAR! Worked in both heavy rain and hosing from washing the car. And it cost me nothing. No trips to the dealership, no silicone bullshit, no ordering parts. Excuse me while I pat myself on the back some more. haha

 glad it’s working for you!

mine’s been dry since my refix so far as well. Go resourcefulness!

hmm i think i’ll just put a bucket lol
