As of Yesterday I own my third DA/DB. A friend of mine owns a house and one of his renter’s husband had this car that has been parked in his driveway for the last 6months. He calls me up and says hey, I know you’re into integras. I have this thing sitting here and I want it gone. The owner wants it gone too, wants to get rid of it CHEAP. So I go to check it out, It’s missing a hood and some random interior pieces. Needs work all around has a bit of rust in the normal parts, hoping it’s mostly surface. But what sold me on it is this car has a ton of aftermarket parts on it and as soon as we replaced the battery it fired right up. I then drove it, it’s drove rough at first but i chalked that up to bad gas, like I said it’s been sitting for awhile. After a few blocks the idle smoothed out and the car drove great. Worst case scenario, part it out and make way more than I spent.
The car has a JDM B18c swap, and whomever did the swap did it right but the wiring needs to be cleaned up a tad. Anyways here’s what the car is/has.
Anyways It’s a 91 LS-Special, chassis has 178k
JDM B18C
Cable trans, pretty sure it’s stock, but could be the b17 ys1 haven’t driven it enough to get a feel for the gearing or really looked for the trans code since it could be long or short.
Boomslang obd0-obd1 harness, P72 ECU, OBD1 distributor repinned and wired correctly, NO CEL’s
Innovative motormounts, they’re red which is either street or race, they don’t seem that stiff though.
Innovative traction bar w/the front Innovative mount
H&R race lowering springs on some aftermarket shocks(can’t tell brand yet)
Sway bars have been upgraded, but haven’t really looked at them for a brand
Skunk2 upper A-arm balljoint camber adjustment arms, rear skunk2 camber adjustment arms
A set of brozne rota slipstreams, one rim is curbed to fuck but still might be useable
Mishimoto aluminum half sized radiator
Aem Cold Air intake
DC sports 4-1 header
JDM one pieces, w/what looks like 6k hid kit installed. Pass side needs refinished.
JDM sidemarkers/turn signals in the fenders
Best part is i got into this for 700 bucks , I probably could’ve got her down from that but I would’ve felt bad if I paid any less for it. Beings she’s a freind of a friend, didn’t really want to screw her. Anyways, there’s my new project, I’ll be spending a lot more time around these parts again.
Thanks for looking.
Neil you still cutting G2IC stickers? I’m gonna need some more
Yeah, I couldn’t say no. Best part is, the wife approves. I had my old G2 when we started dating, and she liked that car. She hated my most recent project it was a 93 Civic Si, so it had to go. She gave this one the big thumbs up and she’s actually happy for me to have it. She says it’ll keep me from bugging her, lol.
I have to admit, I was actually scared to see the pictures after reading the description…

But it actually looks to be in great condition. Get a hood on there and clean up the passenger headlight and it will look good. Get some good radiator-stays and replace that damn oil cap lol.
For the price though, as long as the motor checks out, you couldn’t have gone wrong. I know its early, but, plans for the car?

Yeah, that makes it sound a lot worse than it is. The hood and stereo faceplate were stolen, and that’s all they took…ugh thieves in this place and it wasn’t even Carbon Fiber. It’s gonna be a bitch to find a hood locally, and no one wants to ship one cause its not worth it. So a Carbon fiber hood will probably go on, The oil cap will disappear quickly and a real radiator mounting solution will be figured out as well. I’ll probably do a compression check tomorrow to get an idea of how healthy the motor is, but i’m thinking it’s good. Doesn’t smoke at all during start up or while running, fires fast every time too. Plans are to clean it up and drive the shit out of it, maybe a low boost project in the future…but that would be way off in the future.
Nice grab man. Ill give you 700 right now for it…lol
Dam good price. Can’t wait to see her back together and looking sexy as hell. GL
Deal, lol. Thanks. Yeah, i’m pretty stoked to work some magic on this one. It’ll be a damn nice car with only a little bit of time and money into it.
Thanks for the warm welcome/return…whatever. thanks. I got very lucky. Yeah It’s a pretty nice car, overall. I drove it today again and it was still missing. So, like I do with all my new vehicles, I replaced the fuel filter with a wix one. The one in there was also a wix, but it’s cheap insurance. Threw some fuel injector cleaner into the tank and filled up with some fresh 93. Leaving the gas station it was still missing bad, anything over half throttle it sounded like it was only running on two cylinders.
So I check the fuel pressure, and ended up smelling like gas, pressure was good. So I decide to check the ignition stuff, I check the plug wires at the dist, and they were fine. I then check @ the plugs. Sure enough the #1 and #2 plug wires were just sitting on top of the spark plugs. The previous owner/mechanic had managed to screw off the little tophat thing from teh top of the spark plug, so instead of snapping into the plug wires they were just sitting there. So I screwed those back on the plugs. There was also water down the tubes, so I pulled all the plugs and let it dry out. All plugs look normal without any fouling. So, after they were dried out, I threw it all back together and went for a drive…Holy shit this thing is quick. I’m betting money there aren’t stock cams in this beast, and juding by how the trans was today. I’m thinking i have a short geared ys1
It needs some front end work though, it doesn’t track straight…not terrible but noticeable. Upon brakeing it pulls to the right so something is definitely out of alignment. Hopefully that won’t be too much of a chore to fix.
So in your opinions, Vis or Seibon Carbon fiber hoods. Which is better? Can’t find a stock steel hood locally, and buying a new oem one plus paint will be the same price if not more than a CF. So what do you gents think?
I have a VIS carbon fiber hood. It has since been color matched to the rest of the car. Fitment is nice. Though, I’ve seen Seibon hoods with better fitment, and the quality of the carbon fiber appears to be better than the VIS unit. Only downside is the Seibon hood is more expensive (last time I checked, anyway). I’ve also read that the Seibon hoods are noticeably lighter than VIS’s hoods.
I’ll be getting a new carbon fiber hood at some point down the road again. When I DO go that route again, It will be a Seibon hood
I just ordered a seibon carbon fiber hood this morning, I can’t wait for that shit to get here. Then I can actually park the damn thing @ my apartment and drive it to my shop to fix things.
u guys should have seen my car when i got it fuel injectors were screwed up, sun roof cracked, decals coming off, no hood latch, burns to rich the list goes on and on so u got a dang good deal
yeah, I feel i did get a pretty good deal on this guy.
Today was a Busy day of turning screws, fixing wiring, adjusting body panels and then there was a surprise.
So I got a ton of parts last week and this week, and today was the day to put them on.
Today I did the following:
Replaced the ICU, glovebox, radio surround, drivers coin try, steering wheel and installed the seibon hood (I need to do some adjusting). I also installed a new cruise control motor/actuator and cruise control master switch.
I removed the momo steering wheel that was on it, just didn’t like it. Going to be for sale here soon. Removed some crappy audiovox security system and soldered a bunch of wires which were twisted together. Had to rewire the HID’s cause they used the brights as the trigger for the relay rather than the low beams…some people.
Then right when I was done doing the work, the car was on running and boom…it just died. NO CEL or anything. Wouldn’t restart either. So I did some reading and then some metering with the DMM and determined that the ignition coil had gone bad. Made a run to autozone, thew in the new coil and she fired right back up.
I’ll get some pics soon. I’m pretty happy with the way she sits right now. Just little things here and there to be done now.
