I think i have a large problem here!

Okay well i installed my K&n Typhoon Air intake, but when i turn on my car and step on the gas the engine like sputters, like it isn’t suckin air or something.

Its even worse when i am actually driving. I did not take it far becuas ei don’t want to do any damage to my engine. It’s almost as if(when driving) when i step on the gas it sputters all the way up around 3-4k rpm then is normal! Its olny when i first step on the gas! I have not tested over 30-35.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not trying to be an a$$ but did you take all of the packaging out?

Dont know if this will help, but try resetting your ECU! This tip can be found in the Teg Tips. That might fix it. I remember mine doin this to.

hmmmm very funny. yes all the packaging is out!

Okay what is the ecu just like a switch or something to reset it?

I am not a car wiz. but hose instructions could not of even helped a professional!

Are there anymore opinions out there? Do you think the ECU could really the problem?

disconnect your negative battery terminal for about 10 minutes…that will reset the ECU

okay i’ll go do that now! So is that the problem? Yes or no?

oh and then after i let the positive and negative totally off the battery do i allow the car to warm up and idle for 5-7 minutes?

when u took off ur intake…did u remember to cover ur TB and make sure nothing got stuck inside it?

My TB?

I don’t think anything got in anything. We check all new tubes and such as we put them on!

tb = throttle body… its the piece in the engine that the intake tube attachs too

he was suggesting a piece of paper might have gotten in there

no nothing got in it…we checked.

Anyways i did reset the ecu and at first it worked. Started up okay and even when i stepped on the gas it worked! I took it down the road about 1/2 mile went oeasy on it…on the way back i decided to almsot floor it…reved up to red line shifted…all is fine!!!

As soon as i get into the driveway it starts doing it again! It almsot staled on me!!!

you have to let it IDLE FOR 10 MINUTES after you reset it. Dont just reset it and go drive

i thought i let it sit for like 8 minutes. Does the 2 minutes really make that big of a difference?

dont touch the gas at all when after you reset it. just reset it, turn the key, let it run for 10 min, turn it off, turn it back on, let it warm up for 15 min, take it for a drive.

OHHH right…i let it idle for 8 minutes…turned it off turned it back on and drove it immediately!!!

Oh surge2k…i did not mean your instructions did not help out…i meant the directions K&N sent with the air intake!

Oh and if its not a problem with the ECU and nothing got stuck in the throttle body then is there anything else it could be?

put your old stock intake back on, if u still have problems its something else on the car.Assuming u didn’t trash the old intake.

If it doesnt have problems its the K&N.

process of elimination. part of learning about cars and working on them.

CT;)

What the heck can be wrong with a tube and a filter?

Anyways we did a test after all this we did a test and it still does not work. We totally took off the intake and just left the TB totally open…clearing anything that might get sucked up…it still does the same thing. I had to drive it about 3 miles while it studdered the whole way home. I may have a professional take a look at it. I don’t want to mess more with it. I’m not a technical type of person when it comes to cars. hell i did not even kno what TB was at first i had to thin about it 8P

Check your spark plugs, Cap and Rotor. A bad spark plug can cause the car to shudder and shake. and even out about 4K. Give it a shot.
