I want my 92RS to run like a GS-R

Ok Im thinking about the 403’s, but someone said something about revving to 8000, how can I do that?? Will I need an ecu program to accomplish that, or will the VAFC reprogram the ecu to allow for the higher revving? Also will the 403’s have a stock idle or a really choppy one? I hate choppy idles it seems as if the car is about to shut off or something I dont really like the sound.

apexi rev/speed meter and safc would take away rev limiters and allow higher revving but a cheaper alternative would be an eprom burner, just burn yourself new chips to meet your current mods. not as easy to tune as a safc but still does the job. 403’s can make power to 8000rpm but your stock head wont flow to well up there. try a port and polish and 403’s for best bang for the buck.

i am surprised that he didnt get flamed in this post…
i guess its good.

man, boost it till she blows. even with stage 2 cams/i/h/c/e, you may not keep up with their gsr’s. especially if they have bolt-ons and/or tuning. you gotta start fiddling with the compression/head/tranny to get you up there. with all that money, you could have a decent low boost setup and annihilate them, with tons of room to spare. ya baby ya!

they suggest springs/retainers. to get to 8000, ya you need to program the ecu. i dont think an afc does that.
idle is fine for a lot of us. dont forget you should get cam gears and tuning to get the most out of em.

no afc won’t change your redline. the easiest way to do it would be to have your ecu chipped($70) and buy an eprom burner($65), then you can simply open your ecu file on your pc and enter whatever rev limiter you’d like.

Ok I know you guys are probably getting tired of all of my questions but where to find the Eprom burner, and what kind of chip??? Also, if I went out and got the chip and Eprom burner, with just a intake could i change the rev limit to 8000rpm, and run it there safely???

like i said in an earlier post the head doesnt flow too well so the motor cant rev insanely high. i rev till i feel the end of the powerband, by the time i shift im out of my powerband but it will help with an ls tranny so i dont drop to low where i am out of my powerband on the low side. eprom burner on ebay and 27c256 or 27c512 chips. then goto pgmfi.org and learn basic shit while u wait for everything to arrive. ask on here or pgmfi if some1 could chip your ecu. its harder than it looks. i did most of mine. my teacher helped me clear the holes that still had solder in them. i have no rev limiter on mine btw, i still wouldnt rev to 8k tho. if i remember correctly i shift at 7000-7200. normally its right at 7200 right before the rpm drops from the next gear.

why would you chip your ecu with just a intake ? there will little to no performance out of it , also rev to 8k with a stock ls motor ?? why ? the motor with the stock cams max hp is 6500-6700 ,your are just asking to blow up your stock motor revving to 8 k without proper cams and valvetrain for high reving, ecu chip are only good for cars that have a decent amount of mods i/h/exhaust combo cams ,tbody, headwork ect ect , a chip on a stock more just dumps more fuel and bumps the timing up , you get maybe a horsepower or to but waste alot of fuel its just easier to to advance your timing and run premium gas , my 2 cents

Man you should really read the thread before replying. He was asking how to raise his redline if he goes with the crower 403’s.

Where can I find the 403’s? I looked on NOPI’s website and didnt see anything about 403’s, I did however see stages.

403’s are stage 2, 404’s are stage 3

Ok here it is, I went back to the NOPI website, these are what they have for the Crowers, Stage 1 Street/Strip; Stage 3 Drag Race; Stage 3 Street/Strip. Which one is the 403’s???

look at this page. i think you need to look at the non vtec cams for b18a and b18b.

unless you have a vtec engine or head, then look at the vtec cams.

Thanks, I was looking at the wrong website. I was looking at www.nopi.com and I guess they dont carry that brand.

get a b20 for like 500 bucks and leave ur friends 3 zip codes away from u at all times. http://www.attarco.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=1&products_id=45&zenid=41da3c7f9ae59e4b53303647709d7dcb
