I had kind of a wake up call last night. I was driving home from dropping my girlfriend off and was pulled over for “speeding”.
Long story short, I was given a bunch of tickets and had to get my car towed home. It’s always my word against the cop’s and the cops always win. I’m not gonna bore you with the details because it’ll just sound like i’m whining and everyone is just gonna tell me if i don’t want to be profiled, then don’t drive a modified car. It’s true, we make the decisions to drive these machines and yes, we will get profiled for it… it’s that simple.
So how do you fix it? Don’t drive modified cars. So that’s what i’m leaning towards.
It really kills me to have to even think about selling my baby… I’ve worked so hard on it, but i’m tired of the shit i get from cops. It feels like once you get one speeding ticket, you’re fucked for life.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Should I do it, or are you all gonna try to talk me out of it
Here’s a pic of my car:
If i do sell it, should i sell as a whole or should i part it out?
car looks pretty clean, so my suggestion is to part out what you can and still leave enough on it to sell it. sell the OEM front spoiler lip, trade the rims for steelies w/ cash on top on buyers end. sell/trade the 1-pieces for USMD headlights + cash on buyers end. sell/trade the CF hood w/ cash on top on buyers end and whatever aftermarket parts you have.
end the end…you can make $1000+ on parting out alone and another $2500-$3000+ by selling the car, pending on the condition and miles. if you have a swap, can even sell it for more.
True… don’t speed and you won’t get tickets. It sucks when you still get tickets even when you don’t speed.
I was driving behind a modified mustang who was speeding… he was was probably going about 70-75km/h. I was going about 65 give or take. The speed limit is 60km/h. We drive by a cop who is turning onto our street. The mustang taps his brakes and i look down at my speedo and notice i’m doing the speed limit so i just resume driving. I see the cop zoom past me to catch up to the mustang to pull him over and i’m thinking to myself “phew, good thing he got the right guy”. Then as i slowly catch up to them, he blocks me from passing and tells me to pull over as well. WTF!
I was like half a block behind the mustang and he pulls ME over as well, gives me a ticket for speeding AND following too close.
Well he got the Stang too, so it’s not like he was profiling imports. Why did you have to get your ride towed home if all you got was a speeding ticket.
Keep the car man, you won’t get nearly as much as you put into it both time and money.
Alright. I’ve just finished talking to professional standards at the RCMP and am going to make a formal complaint against the constable who pulled me over.
I talked to the staff sergeant and told him my story. Really nice guy and had a lot of good stuff to say in my defense. Not all cops are bad.
What did you get tickets for? It should be pretty easy to keep the car and just change your mods so that the car is nearly legal (100% legal probably won’t happen). With an older modified Honda you pretty much always get a bit more heat than if you were driving a beige cavalier or other mundane car, but if you’re smart about how you drive and your mods then you shouldn’t attract much attention at all. And if you do, make sure your parts are legit. “Yes the car has an intake, but it’s CARB legal” etc…
dont sell your car because this.
sell your car because your tastes have changed, or starting a family or because your finances allowed you to move up, if thats the case.
but dont sell your car because of “profiling”.
get a daily driver, a mid sized SUV or a wagon, those are the least suspected vehicles.
the subaru outback is a really fun car, and living in canada, AWD will be fun in the winters. we drove one into the ground for years, started off hacking it all up after an accident, rally’d the shit out of it, called it “the Ru”. finally died on a rally course and we shot and burned it. it actually started once after the first round of gunfire. didnt last much longer than that though. needless to say they are reliable as a horse.
ey bro in regards to ur whole article i can really understand where ur coming from as I myself have been down that road already and as a result have suffered a susp. DL and my car just sits there never driving. I would say dont sell it. Just stop speeding. Make it smaller piping stock muffler regular cat and you should be good and less prompted to drive fast even when alone. Once you have that really good rude awakening from the mofukkin popo lol youll stop. Just save driving fast for the track or out in the middle of nowhere or etc.
[QUOTE=davidhtam;2176387]So yeah… i wanna sell my car…

Bro if you let the Cops put you down? then you should not drive at all… LOl… cops will pull you over in any car… yes in a modify car you have a higher chance… but oh well fuck it…! you know my solution!! traffic clinic!! man 80 bucks… for any tickets no point or school.!! you should try that!! LOL best solution!! dont sell…it. you work hard on that car to give it up cuz the cops lol fuck them!
?'s placed where they don’t need to be, and what’s worse is that its not even in the form of a question.
double “…” for no reason.
as a new member, you’re gonna need to do a little better than in order to be taken seriously around here. not TRYING to be an asshole, but I had to mention it before someone else did.
I think if you remove the CF hood and put the license back to where it’s supposed to be, you’ll be hassled a lot less. I feel like any CF on a car just screams for the cops’ attention. I mean, don’t get me wrong, they look nice, but if you drive your car in the streets, keep the OEM stuff on. No need to attract more attention to cops and thieves than you already do by driving a Honda/Acura. I mean, aside from the hood and the license plate, your car looks pretty OEM clean so with those gone, it shouldn’t be a problem anymore
the plate isn’t what’s wrong, but i agree about the CF. A lot of those commercial vans have the plate not centered on their bumpers so it can’t be that.
i guarantee if an OEM hood and OEM looking wheels are put on he would virtually never get profiled despite the car being lowered.
[QUOTE=imcnblu;2176701]what the fuck kind of grammar is that?

lol. OK! i did not know i had to write in such perfect grammar format. does it matters? its just a forum:hmm: you got my point. i did not know the way i write would determine on how people should take me seriosly or not. but i guess it does according to you lol. So anyways my bad
not perfect grammar, just not fucked up grammar.
its just like how people talk, you can tell there are some people who arent all with it by the way they speak and the vocabulary they use. the internet is the same way, except on the internet you have to deal with grammar instead of speech patterns.
its not like? this, makes any! sense or is/understandable by normal. (people) “does it”
your car is beautiful. don’t sell it! you will regret it if u do trust me. i got a speeding ticket a while back and sold all my parts with the intent of selling the car too. now i regret selling my parts that i worked so hard for while the car is sitting in the garage getting back to stock:surrend:
