awesome, thanks
deffinatly sounds like a problem with the clutch presure plate if the swing arm wont return back to its original postion. might not hurt to pull that tranny and inspect it while you have the motor out of the car…
glad you got some of that stuff taken care of. my phones is always on
well, my dad checked it out today. he informed me of something that I wasn’t aware of. that those release levers tend to have play in them. that when I was pushing the fork back, it wasn’t releasing anything at all in the clutch. we took a pry bar, and pushed the fork back. that was doing its job, and it had NO problem returning to its rest position.
sorry, I’m a noob at hydro transmissions. I’ve only ever owned cable transmission cars. after inspecting it, we have determined that the clutch is fine
So, today, I spent the majority of the day cleaning the engine bay. The driver’s side of the bay had a lot of built up axle grease from when an old axle busted the boot and sprayed it everywhere.
I had some extra paint so I did some touch up spots in the engine bay. I thought I had ran out of paint, but then I remember that I still had about half a pint of paint left over. So, weather permitting, I’ll be mixing the rest of the paint, and finishing the rest of the bay
Also, I wired up the Rywire VTEC sub-harness to the P72 ECU. So, the wiring is done. Just need to hook everything back up, and put the B18C in Can’t wait. It’ll be done in no time.
sweet bro… ur gonna love the big power difference.
yeah, 40+hp is always a nice thing to have. and with a short geared, LSD transmission putting it to the ground, it definitely won’t fail to entertain me the first few times I get on it.
no progress today
too much rain  x2
gonna rain all day tomorrow  x491
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are clear skies and relatively nice temps. DONE this weekend, no question about it. (unless my GS-R throttle cable doesn’t show up by saturday) Monday morning, it goes to the exhaust shop to have the cat welded up and installed when done, I take the wife out on a birthday drive (her birthday is Monday)
Hey, another thing…
I’m considering deleting the charcoal canister. I’m told that the JDM engines don’t even use them anyway, right? My motor is a JDM B18C (SIR-G), so I’m of the belief that it never utilized such a system anyway if that information is correct.
What would I need to do in order to delete it? which vacuum lines do I need to cap off, or tee into (if applicable) on the intake manifold/throttle body. I will be using the stock dual runner intake manifold for the time being.
when u get this running, let me know what you do to keep your speedo cable in?? pics would be great when you get to that point.
sounds good. I’ll let you know. will do what I can for pics. My oldest daughter lost our camera (a rather expensive Nikon), and my phone is taking horrible pics, at the moment.
when you removed your speedometer cable, did the little snap ring under the rubber boot fall off, get lost, or break? that appears to be what was holding it in firm. haven’t tried to put it back in, yet. but I have definitely read that people are having issues with their cables popping out. I’ll see if it happens to me, and if not, I’ll try to post pics of everything so that others can see what I did vs. what they did.
well i never had it installed. i ordered one from oemacuraparts.com but i think i lost it. how do you install it?? it didnt make sense to me.
not 100% sure, myself. I’ll figure it out when I get the swap in, and I’ll gladly let you know
ok so this is the clip right??? i just dont get how to install it. but i know a guy who knows how. so around 11am ima go take it to him. n if its all good ill post pics after.
hmmm. I don’t recall mine looking like that. i’ll be heading out there to work on it in a little bit (mainly working on the bay, though) If I can, I’ll try to get a pic of what it looks like while I’m out there.
ok so i guess thats not what i thought it was, according to a guy on honda-tech it is the clamp that clips the cable to the firewall. he said the one i need is gold and is a half circle shape with a bulge on one side. dangit now i gotta find that part now lol.
yeah, that’s the one I was talking about. it is very small, and appears to hold it to the speed sensor housing. goes under the rubber dust cover/boot (call it what you will). Before ordering the part, do what I did, check up inside that rubber boot and see if it fell off in there. mine was barely showing, if a small piece of that clip wasn’t hanging out of the bottom, I would have never known it was in there, and would have spent centuries trying to find the part number for the stupidest little snap ring on earth. mine was VISIBLE, and was a pain in the ass to get out. that boot was rather sturdy, and so was the clip. if its lodged up in there, try to get it out. if its 100% NOT in there, you’ll have to find the part number for it, as I’m not sure what the part number is. Hope that helps.
oh for crying out loud lol. i definitely dont have that part. now i gotta find that part. thanks for the help sir. at least now i know what my problem is. i gotta go find a teggy in a junkyard that hopefully has it. if u can find that part and take a picture of it, thatd be awesome. thanks for the help
no problem. heading out there now, to get some work done.
here’s a picture of what u guys are talking about…only like two bucks at the honda dealer
yup, you beat me to it. to confirm, for you, so you can have peace of mind. and also because I snapped the pic while i was working (in the rain, might I add)…
updates (WITH PICS this time)
so, my friend stopped by while I was working a few days ago, and snapped these:
“Do work, son”
“Doin’ work, son.”
was taking out the rear motor mount when he showed up. that rear bolt on the factory mount is a bitch to get off. Thank goodness the Hasport mount doesn’t have all those provisions blocking access to the bolt. Will be MUCH easier to put on.
lol. now, onto the updates…
this came in today, the final piece to the puzzle
GS-R Throttle cable
and here are the bay shots…
Before 1 (motor had been out less than 5 minutes at this point)
Before 2
*that pic was taken AFTER I had done the degreasing and cleaning. But underneath it all, you can see the paint was in horrible shape. Especially, underneath the driver’s side mount area (practically no paint at all after the degreasing )
So, I got right to work… These are the results:
Note the cross-members, as well. And look at that beautiful, fresh Captiva Blue Pearl in the bay
These phone pics do absolutely NO JUSTICE to how much nicer it looks under the hood. These pics are terrible compared to how they actually look. Fortunately, I found my camera today. But, I need to recharge the battery for it, so I’ll be able to take better pics as I’m finishing up.
The cam on my phone sucks, horribly. The pics look blurry and hazy, and Verizon won’t replace the phone or anything (long story).
Some of the hoses are still a little dirty. I’m gonna replace most of them, and hit the remaining hoses with some more soap and water to get the dirt off, and then hit them with some Armor All or something to make them look like new.
also, I removed the charcoal canister today, as well. Had to stop after that, though. Started raining, and I wanted to get the hood closed up, and the car covered back up before all that fresh paint was messed up.
I didn’t get to do the wire tuck that I wanted to do. My time was limited, and the weather was DEFINITELY not on my side this week. As you can see, I don’t have a garage to work in. So, the tuck will have to wait until I can get it done in a garage.
